This is where this game really sucks... I was nowhere and stiil am - but when Bergwijn made it 2-2 in the 96th minute, I was potentially top three. 12 points and a big gain on almost everbody else. Late goal in Fergie time++, but job well done. Then he scores again in Fergie time+++....... Football, bloody hell.
Be on a high after last night but Chelsea away is probably the last fixture we wanted to see for Spurs Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham
For some reason, I was in mellow, nostalgic mood this week, thinking of tunes which bring echoes from my past. Just after WWII, there was a comedy programme run by a couple of former colleagues in the RAF. It always finished with a song, based on either various snippets of news, or sometimes on the contents of the earlier show. The song celebrated the show’s title (an imaginary RAF station): Much-Binding-in-the-Marsh. I loved this format – I reckon it was my first experience of (very gentle) satire! With our current political scene running a show which outstrips satire itself, plus the excitement of that finale against Leicester, I couldn’t resist trying to produce a version of their song to celebrate our forthcoming tussle with the West London chaps in blue. No lyrics available on line, but I found one quaint recording of Kenneth Horne and Richard Murdoch doing the song. This will give you youngsters the rhythm and the pattern of the tune. I hope you will indulge this old geezer for once. So now Johnson’s on the run - We know that he’s been telling massive porkies. Yes, now Johnson’s on the run - His actions are as dodgy as his talk is! So when he says he’s sorry he just lies a little more – He’s lost control of his right-wingers - one has crossed the floor - Now he’s afraid their crosses will help his opponents score! So now Johnson’s on the run! Tuchel rules at Stamford Bridge - He thinks that Mount’s as good as our young Skippy! Tuchel rules at Stamford Bridge! Our Lucas Moura’s simply twice as nippy! The Chelski team have beaten us, and knocked us out the cup; They outmanoeuvred Conte, like an old dog with a pup; But now it’s in the league where we are surely moving up - Tuchel rules at Stamford Bridge! Our league place is on the rise: We’ve moved above the Gooners, now for West Ham. Our league place is on the rise: The Irons are now playing more like wet spam. I hope that we go toe-to-toe with Chelski in this match. ‘Gainst Liverpule and Leicester we were very hard to catch - We seem to do much better when we fight teams on their patch Our league place is on the rise! Sky Blues top the Premier League There isn’t any way of getting past them - Sky Blues top the Premier League, And they are gonna win it (you just ask 'em!). But goals on Sunday from our Harry and from Moura’s head - And we’ve 4 games in hand on Chelski (they’re eight points ahead) So decent scores (2 wins, 2 draws) will leave these Blues for dead - We’ll get in the Champions League! Prediction: Chelski 2 Spurs 2 Scorers: Kane, Moura Cheers, Spurf!
