I'm guessing we didnt sign Antonio because when West Ham paid approx £9m for him in 2015, we had just finished 15th in the Championship, and thus we signed Chris Wood instead, who wasn't that bad a signing. and made us a tidy profit 2 years later.

Saint Maximim signed for Newcastle in 2019, just after our playoff disaster, for approx £18mil. Given that we didn't pay a permanent fee for any player in 2019, I would have thought it was fairly obvious why we never signed him.

Cornet, who knows ? It wasn't financial, given that we signed Firpo. Maybe Cornet was even worse at left back than Firpo, maybe his attitude was wrong, maybe he is one that just got away, maybe we were never really in for him. Maybe he heard that all the young ladies were yours Wakey, and knew he couldn't compete with your sexual presence, and thus chose to go to Burnley, where he knew he would be top dog when it came to attracting the female Burnley talent
