You completely missed the point. There is every chance he'll be coming back, which is why he began on good odds. What I am saying is that the odds are shrinking not because the chance of him coming back is increasing (please acknowledge once more that it's a very real and likely possibility), but because people are placing that many bets that if it does happen they are looking at a massive pay out.

It was implied, and not by you actually, that there was no chance O'Neill was coming back and that it was only betting from our fans that changed the odds. This in itself wouldn't change the odds. They do this when they suspect someone knows something they don't...or they themselves know something.

 

and what gives them that hunch that someone knows something they don't? Large numbers of bets.

 

Sigh. But, as I already said, if we had no chance of getting him, as was implied, then they wouldn't change the odds no matter what.

You are completely and utterly wrong and have no clue about how betting works from the bookies side. If the bookies really did know who was going to get the job they would not even put him on the list in the running. Just put a load of other names on there so people back them and they win money risk free. The only reason O'Neil is shortening is because people are putting money on him, yes he may get the job, but the bookies have no clue at this time who will get it

But my one and only point is, yet again, that we have every chance of getting O'Neill, and the bookies agree. I never said why the odds were shortening. I only said there are several reason why this might happen. You're right, if he was a certainty, they wouldn't be taking any bets at all.
