Foul or not that sort of thing gets called foul 9 times out of 10. same as the shoulder charge for the penalty appeal. Not complaining though.
Agreed. The best he could have done is punch Eaves in the face, so really we should have had a goal AND a penalty.
It's difficult to imagine this team without him going forward. He's the drive, the energy, the character, the grafter.Wears his heart on his sleeve and if you cut him open he'd bleed black n amber!!! Stay fit lad,the faithful need you.
Dunno was maybe a bit of a barge. But this is what attackers are doing to defenders at every single set piece, blocking them off. Nobody would have said anything if that was a centre half instead of the keeper. Fact is the keeper just wasn’t strong enough and despite that he wasn’t getting to it anyway. Would have been better standing his ground and trying to save the shot.
The penalty shout was a bit different. Definite foul but from the refs viewpoint it really looked like Bernard won the ball as Bremerton-Diaz rolled it just in that direction. Ref was directly behind so couldn’t see the flick and lino was miles behind left in the dust. So although they would rightly be upset about it I can see why it wasn’t given, that was just our good fortune. Suppose that’s the risk you take when you ride the challenge and play for the foul.
He is such a diamond. Possibly my favourite Hull City player ever. A career in the media beckons when he eventually hangs up his boots.
Me too. We signed their best player, Ken Knighton, straight after the first game - drawing the replay was probably Lancashire karma.
I thought it was stone wall penalty at the time and was amazed it wasn't given. I thought he'd put more of a foot in. Seeing it back it's primarily a shoulder barge and nowhere near as bad as I thought. The only way it's a foul is if his foot which he does put across slightly is judged to have brought him down. Can't see how the side-on barge is an issue at all.
Not sure if this is the right thread but bugger it. What a marvellous beautiful night it was. Best atmosphere in the stadium for a long long time. Brilliant. After more than a decade of the Allam's misery etc it feels like our city and our people have got our club back even if Turkish money has done it. The disabled supporters singing in their wheelchairs last night almost brought tears of joy to my eyes. Great times ahead hopefully. It was my Dad and Grandad that first took me to Boothferry as a kid. Wish they could have been there last night.
I just checked the rules for impeding and technically McLoughlin’s block is a foul. Which begs the question why every single corner or free kick that’s ever been taken hasn’t just resulted in a foul. Funny how a lot of the rules only seem to apply to keepers.
