“Acun, tell me you’re going to sack the manager without saying you’re going to sack the manager” Live on sky NOW
After that interview he was certain on e erything apart from McCanns future .. can see this being Tel boys last game
He didn't say he was going either. He might decide to see what Grant can do with some better players. There again he may not. He did say he liked they we play.
Great performance from the team tonight might not be enough to change his future but will not have done his career prospects with other League 1 some good
To put it mildly, I've not been a fan of 'One Plan' at all. His lack of flexibility and adaptability added to a stubborn streak has driven me mad and I think has cost City at times. However, despite the Stoke result, I am beginning to wonder what things might be like if he's given a chance with some better players added to the squad. The current crop of players clearly like Grant and he knows better than anyone that the team needs help. Therefore, I've switched my vote.
McCann should get to the end of the season. I like how he is using the young players in our squad, it's not often in our history that it's happened to such an extent. I'm not sure he will be around much longer though going on the interview with the new owner. It's great we will be getting new players in but we had a lot of mercenary types come and go for the money in the last 13 years up until the Allams asset stripped the playing staff. We need a bit more quality up front regardless of that. UTT
I think we need a better coach if Acun's dream is going to happen, as I think tactically he is lacking. I would certainly stick with McCann to the end of this season though, as the current crop of players are playing for him. I know it is not the usual way, but as they would have to pay him off until the end of the season, might they consider the new coach working alongside him, just to use McCann's knowledge of the English game? Just a thought.
I don’t think Mcann has ever really had a fair crack at the championship, had us comfortably mid table with bowen and grosicki. The rest of that squad was league 1 quality and the fault of that lies with the Allams. Recruitment this year has been miles better even with the restrictions and we are seeing the benefits of it as we are on track to stay up with a fair margin. Only going to get better with better players, 1/2 full backs, 2 strikers and a holding midfielder of good championship quality and then we’ll see how he does.
I haven’t changed my vote since the beginning of this poll, I said in, I stick with it, until at least the end of the season. I’ve never been sure whether McC was hampered by interference from above or not, even now, I’m not convinced Acun won’t be trying to interfere, but I think his interference will be on the players we sign. The thing that worries me about signings, someone mentioned it above, is about mercenary players coming for the money, players prices, suddenly going up to stupid amounts when we’re involved. It’s already happening at Newcastle, admittedly on a bigger scale, but every day, I’m seeing players coming out in the media saying they want to play for Newcastle, yeah right, it’s MONEY !
It's why I'd be far happier seeing only a couple of additions, but re-sign our players for what they're worth and retain and build on the solid core we have.
I think that is a fair point, though I still think he struggles to change games if something not working. If we are looking to be a promotion team going forward, I think you need someone with more experience and better tactically.
Hopefully, it's not an either-or. I think we need 4/5 but that could really push us up the league. But I do think the squad is really lacking, after the summer it wouldn't surprise me if only 3/4 of the current side are regular starters. There's lots of endeavour but not a lot of quality
To be able to change a game you need options from the bench though. We don't have that. Yesterday the bench was full of players that wouldn't get a championship contract anywhere else in the league (maybe Ingram apart)
I'm not talking about last night, but generally since he has been with us. He only changed to 3 at the back because of injury, but there were times before this, that when playing 433 a change was needed, but he never did it.
I don't think we need 4/5 in January. A new striker, a CB and maybe a CM would be plenty to get near mid-table. It's a hard window to buy in, much better waiting until summer.
If it’s an option between McCann and someone that is unfamiliar with the Championship. I’d rather keep McCann.
We have reasonably good information about who McCann's replacement would be if he did go. And it's going to be a big risk to drop Shota Arveladze into a Championship dogfight with no experience of the league whatsoever. I'd stick with Grant until the summer at least.
