Every time I check the sports news I expect to find the game postponed. But I guess they're going to wait until the fans are traveling to the game. Great all these postponements, I love games in hand. No not really. The consequences are that a the team that is able to play the fixture is penalised twice - firstly because they were presumably relatively stronger compared to their opponents when it should have been played, and secondly because the rearranged match is going to have to be played closer to other matches leading to later fixture congestion and all the problems associated with that. Indeed, a team that has a lot of postponed matches through no fault of their own, may find that when they come to play them their squad is depleted by playing too many matches in too short a timescale, with players more knackered and injured than they would have been originally. Perhaps under those circumstances they should ask for a postponement!
We will look back at this season as the season we were screwed......Oh no! That did it to us in 1919 bringing Arsenal into Div 1 from Div 2 and sending us to Div 2.Choker for the FL that time....we won Div 2 then the FA Cup the next year.I think we were runners up in Div 1 after that. **** the FL (and UEFA!)
Leicester reportedly have ten players out yet, as of 9:30 this morning, the game is going ahead Have they even tried pretending they have a Covid outbreak?
What I think will be picked Lloris Tanganga Sanchez Davies Emerson Højbjerg Skipp Regulion Lucas Kane Bergwijn What I want Lloris Tanganga Sanchez Davies Emerson Winks Skipp Sessegnon GLC Lucas Kane Either way I imagine Romero will be on the bench, hopefully he can get some minutes. If Rodon is over his rib injury then I’d like him to start over Tanganga with Sanchez moving to the right.
Rodon, Hojbjerg and Gil in for Tanganga, Winks and Lo Celso for me. I don't think Romero will be part of the squad until after the internationals based on what's been said.
I’ve seen some speculation that he’s fit enough to be on the bench. Which would be an encouraging sign even if he’s perhaps another week or so from starting. The club is rightly being cautious with him though. Rodon I definitely want to start but I don’t know if he’s fit. I’d forgotten about Gil and it would be nice to see him on the left and Lucas on the right to stretch the game a bit if we go 343.
To answer both points RE Dier and Romero, this is what's been said on the OS: Antonio Conte says it’s a case of ‘as we were’ in terms of team news ahead of our Premier League clash at Leicester City on Wednesday evening (7.30pm). That means Steven Bergwijn is back from a calf injury but Eric Dier and Heung-Min Son both miss out with muscular problems. Meanwhile, Cristian Romero is closing in on fitness after his serious hamstring injury. Speaking to Spurs TV after training on Tuesday, Antonio told us: “To compare to the last game against Arsenal, nothing has changed, we have the same players available. “Cristian is improving, and he’s working with us. For sure, we have to try to respect the right time for his recovery. He had a serious injury and now he’s very close to coming back with us and being available for games. For sure, after the international break he’ll be available. “Bergwijn has recovered from his calf injury and was already in the squad against Arsenal. For Eric, we have to wait a bit, and also have a bit of patience, and not take a risk.” --------------------------------------------------------- So Dier definitely out, seems like his injury is worse than the initial talk, previously it sounded like he was being rested but this will now be his third game in a row that he'll have missed (well, second, seeing as Arsenal bottled to show for the NLD). As for Romero, sounds like he's training well but won't be risked until after the internationals. Hopefully he doesn't get called up because that'll be infuriating for me.
Yeah an international call up for Romero would be a joke right now. Hopefully both he and Argentina see sense in making sure he’s 100% ready to play.
Interesting quote in there from the manager: “To compare to the last game against Arsenal, nothing has changed, we have the same players available". Why do I think the same won't be true of Arsenal tomorrow night?
