I spoke with a friend, who also happens to be a ST holder at Forest. I asked him about Spence. Apparently he is regularly man of the match- what we saw in the game against Woolwich was not a one off.
I think we all hoped for that but it’s the hope that kills. I’d imagine we’ll end the window with Traore and probably an alternative choice to one of Conte’s preferences for elsewhere. We’ll be lumbered with Lo Celso and Ndombele but I reckon Dele will go out on loan and Doherty will be sold, possibly as part of the Traore deal. All of these deals will likely be done within about 24 hours of deadline day. Will be underwhelming as per.
I mean I did offer to up Raiola's morphine dose after surgery so we could get De Vrij and Romagnoli signed PDQ...
The grand total of ten players have been signed by Premier League clubs this window, with Brighton the only team in the top half of the table to sign somebody But sure, we're the outlier, the other clubs are doing deals left and right...
The Daily Wail claims that everything's fine and there were no parties They also claim that Conte wants Traore, a CB and a backup CF this month So let's lazily say that Stuttgart's Marc-Oliver Kempf and Nantes' Randal Kolo Muani are the respective targets as that's what TiFo Football are suggesting for their Sensible Free Transfers...while also noting that Ajax's Noussair Mazraoui would be a better RWB than Traore anyway
I think the disappointment is because it’s Conte’s first transfer window and that usually means the club will get in a couple of players. That’s why Villa (Gerrard) and Newcastle (Howe) have bought been busy so far.
Newcastle have been busy due to being in the relegation zone and having the money to try and buy themselves out of it I still don't get why fans, and this isn't just Spurs fans but fans of all clubs, treat the January window the same way they do the summer because the only way any club goes on a spending spree is if they've received a Torres or a Coutinho amount of money ...don't suppose PSG want Ndombele then?
I also watched that video. While they’re being a bit hipster in their opinions, as Tito often is, I’d have thought that at the very least Kessie is on the radar for the summer. We know Paratici likes a free transfer.
Much easier to get players to improve those squads than ours though. Taking into account games played only Man C and Liverpool have materially better records than us despite the claims that we've got a weak squad and had more than half our games under an incompetent manager.
I agree with this. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular but at least a gesture of support or some urgency to show we are backing him. I said weeks ago even pushing a couple of noteworthy deals through now for the summer would be satisfactory. The guy is on an 18 month contract which means 3 transfer windows, 2 of which are in January. The chances of him being able to build something even vaguely resembling a competitive team in a single summer window are slim, to say the least. By the time we reach his final window (IF he sticks with us for that long), the situation will be beyond repair and I think he'll be looking at other jobs come Jan 2023 rather than potential targets. We had a poor summer which succeeded a covid-hit winter. We were alreadt on the back foot before he signed and swapping Doherty plus cash for Traore between now and Jan 31st doesn't do much to put us on the front foot.
You’re assuming Spurs will win every game in hand and go third in the table. That’s just simply not going to happen. Also a new elite manager has come in and he’s openly said he has analysed the squad and says he needs to improve it by making signings. Yet we’re nearly 2/3 through the window and nothing has happened regarding incomings at all.
It's less hipster than usual, since they usually sneak in at least one G Fuel Vienna player to every single video
Newcastle and Villa have signed players who'd improve Spurs' squad though, so it's not as difficult as I believe you think it is.
I am assuming no such thing. Our elite manager has also said it's hard to improve in the January window.
If Conte had wanted those players we would probably have got them. I can't imagine Coutinho would go to Villa over us by choice.
Quite possibly but the point of my post is that it isn't as difficult as you seem to think it is to improve our squad, especially when smaller clubs are signing players who are better than ours. Trippier > Doherty and Emerson* Wood > zero second striker Coutinho > Lo Celso, Dele and Ndombele *for now, I still believe the Brazilian will become very good, just needs to improve his crossing.
The reasons being .... ?? *** *** the stats from recent years suggest that 12 out of 15 pts is not unreasonable for those fixtures
I agree with all those but neither Tripper or Wood are the players we need to really improve the squad and Coutinho doesn't seem to fit into Conte's system.
