That’s always the hope. I just think they might do it this year. Seems wide open.

I think they will sneak up. But not as champions. Being second best in the Turd Tier will hang like a millstone of shame around their necks.

A mere hiccup, Heed. We lost 3 on the bounce and still got back on top. 46 games in L1, so still a long way to go...

Well, you're supposedly as rich as Croesus, but you're still buying the likes of Wood...

Wigan stole their best players in the summer so i doubt it. Unless he's realised even billions won't be enough to stop them humiliating themselves constantly

They are wealthy but have been struggling for cash as the company they own has been performing poorly and the family had get themselves into significant debt buying out other investors. The purchase of Sunderland happened soon after his mother sold a 45% interest in the Louis Dreyfus company to the Abu Dhabi equivalent of PIF so its likely that influx of money suddenly put them in a position to ease the purse strings a bit. Presumably his Mum has now watched Sunderland and concluded that Kyle has wasted his share of the Abu Dhabi blood money and is reluctant to let him spend any more.

I hope that's what it is anyway.

The weird thing is that he got the club for the Premier League equivalent of peanuts. If we get back to the Prem he'll have the bargain of the century. PL TV money for £40M...? Makes sense to me.

Nice to see he’s investing in your pitch to allow you to play “total football”:biggrin::biggrin:

I have highlighted the key risk in this business plan. Maybe his Mum thinks he should have invested in Wigan instead.

Average seasonal losses in the Championship run at about UKP50million, probably higher if you are trying to take a serious push at promotion, so you only need to spend a couple of seasons there and that's then an investment of £140m, and no guarantee of getting out.

Blah blah blah. All I'm taking from that is this bit, which is absolutely hilariously hypocritical. I'm sure they will soon be outside the ground chanting for the owner to leave their club as their high standing morals they've been keen to pontificate about in recent times mean they can no longer accept his investment.

Sunderland really are a finished club.. They doors are closing on the international market. Newcastle are going to have their brand grown across the globe and Sunderland will just be a club playing lower league football in a stadium covered in rusty sheets of corrugated iron.
