I'll be really excited if he changes his twitter avatar to him in a Saints kit!... It does restore one's faith in the young, modern footballer the way he has behaved here.
Its not so much benchmarking.. But Chelsea don't really need to sell now, and he has a long contract with club. There will be and is also interest already from other clubs, So id expect they'd get alot more money in the summer. In other words, it makes no sense for them to sell in January.
But Chelsea are insisting on a buy back clause which will shrink the pool of clubs wanting to buy him. That's more important to them than the size of the fee they get. Plus Broja will need to agree to the move.
Yeah, I suppose the buy back does fit the model of the club.. Or the new ownership that we will sell in a few years for like double/triple the value. Let's hope our relationship with Chelsea gets the job done and signed.
Also the latest piece was that they would sell or he would be in the squad to fight for his place. Given how Chelsea operate that second option would be a crazy one for him to pick. Unless he improves so drastically in the next 18 games of course - which does point to you waiting I saw a rating site that had him as statistically one of the lowest rated forwards over the weekend against wolves. Chelsea are going to want someone who can lead the line against wolves. Notably the other lowest was Lukaku but that was against Man City
He's been freely mixing, being regularly hugged after scoring so very likely he's been infected. I was just thinking he might be sensitive to the Chelsea fanbase if he does do the right thing
Yeah, he was poor against Wolves, but everyone was focussing on Redmond, as per. Kid that age isn't going to be world-beating every game. In fact, nobody of any age is. I think there's a danger of getting too caught up in the hype around AB. Yes, he looks absolutely like he's going to be a really good player. He's a pretty damn fine one on his day already, but he's nowhere near the finished article just yet. Which does give us a chance.
Yeah I wasn’t criticising him for it. But using it to point out where the issue with him trying to start for Chelsea would be
Oh I know you weren't. It was a reality though, he didn't perform against Wolves. Was saying throughout the match he looked tired, mentally and physically, and wasn't running at them in the way he's most dangerous.
Did anyone on here watch the games from the stands in Shearer’s first season. I know he exploded onto the scene but I assume he had off games ?
The full debut hat trick was a bit of an outlier, but then saints were a better side than they currently are now and Shearer was 17/18. by the time Shearer was the same age as Broja you didn’t need to be an expert to know he was going places and that was despite being managed by Ian Branfoot. I would say Shearers all round game was better, but he had the benefit from playing regularly from the two seasons prior in the top flight, whilst this is Brojas first proper season.
