I don't understand this idea that some people have of playing Joelinton as DM. He's not a deep lying mid. He should be playing attacking mid, and dropping back if needed. He's not good defensively, he works hard and keeps possession with good footwork and brings others into play. He's a target man with good feet. The formation you've played is bound to lose 1-2/0. We need to score, not just hope we can nick 0-0/1-1. We need to go forward and score. We wont be able to defend our to a win. Plus Wood has no real pace, wouldn't want him in a counter attacking team. We need to go forward and have over lapping runs etc to get balls into Wood who;s a threat in the air. -----------------Wood-------- ASM---------Joelinton---------Murphy ----------Almiron------Shelvey------- Dummett-Schar--Fernandez---Trippier -----------------Dubz--------------------- I'd personally play Almiron as a box to box CM along side Shelvey. Longstaff, Willock, Hayden offer nothing spectacular. At least With Almiron you get decent defensive work, good work rate and someone who can run with the ball. Almiron can support LB in a LCM position.
He's not good defensively? but he does win tackles. He's got all the attributes of a DM or box to box...
Well not enough that he should be placed in a DM spot. He's a CM at the most, but he'd be wasted as a CDM.
I don't see why you've reached that conclusion based I what we've seen in cm.. The man united game for example. I'd play him and willock in cm anyway.. If we keep doing the same thing we'll get the same results.

Lewis is injured and Fraser is ****, but he's if you want tu swap Anderson and dummet that's still better than the **** side we put out. Howe isn't going to spot the problem just like Bruce
