Has Ralph taken Armando out for dinner in Boscombe? (I mean actually this doesn’t work as well as VVD anyway because Broja is actually playing for us).
The whole thing doesn’t work as well because of him actually playing for us and seemingly enjoying it
Fans do get a bit paranoid over things like this but it's hardly going on behind Chelsea's back. But it could be that Chelsea have so many out on loan that they can't remember where he is.
If we manage to get Armando to sign a permanent deal then it will be the biggest coup for the club since King Kev signed IMO.
Us getting Hasenhuttl arguably bigger - he was extremely well regarded in Germany and thought by many to be in line for the Bayern job
He's only young and is going to be a top player, he reminds me a lot of a young Alan Shearer. Toby was never ours BTW. I'll concede on VVD though, he slipped my mind for some reason...
I think Chelsea fans are super paranoid about letting another KDB or Salah slip through. Look who got the winner against them yesterday But that makes no sense here because if he gets even close to that level he’s not exactly staying here. And there will be a buy back. If they don’t take it up then that is only going to be on them But there is no way he becomes close to the player he potentially could be if he sits on their bench next season edit: or getting mugged off like they did for Lukaku. It is pretty galling to re-sign a player for close to 100m when you had him for about 20 and sold him for 30. Leaving aside that he has been underwhelming. It also makes it much harder for them to be able to legitimately point and laugh at Man United over Pogba as the “excess” is not much different Add in that it seems they could have spent about 30m extra and just got Haaland. And given how little impact Lukaku has had for 100m if they had a time machine that is something they’d seriously consider. Albeit I think they steered clear of that because his agent would expect to move him to Spain from Chelsea eventually and have a clause for it as well. A reason I don’t see him going to City either
I immediately thought of Toby when I read this as well. Ings not so much as he had a serious injury history and no pathway into their side and it was an obligation to buy. If it had been an option and he had joined after his decent season then maybe
Nah, Keegan tops the lot. I remember the press conference like it was yesterday. https://thesefootballtimes.co/2020/...winner-kevin-keegan-and-no-one-knew-about-it/
Didn’t the post say “since” Keegan. In no way suggesting it eclipsed it. I don’t think anything will ever top that one or even get close That is a fun thought exercise though. What would even get close ? A Bale return (where he takes 1/10th his current wage) ?
The original post yes but not the one I quoted. I'd back Bale back the club could throw golf club memberships into the deal.
Ings, really? I don't think that was universally seen as a coup, when we signed him (loan with compulsory purchase) he had been battling injuries for 3 seasons and only play a handful of matches during that time. It certainly turned out to be a coup in his second season. Alderweireld we never signed, and when we tried to and failed it was a massive let down. VvD had the concern among some (which SPL players carry) whether he could do it in the PL. We were responsible for making him a regular international at 24. I'd say Broja would be up there with our most exciting signings.
Goodness me we have signed some excellent players in our time. I seem to remember a certain young 17 year old player being given his opening game at home against Mighty Arsenal and scoring a hat trick. Umm now I can’t remember his name KK is another that comes to mind not forgetting VVD. That was in the days when we scored more than we let in and we rarely gave away the lead!!!!
