Just heard that our very own Pilkington is really good mates with the prolific Jordan Rhodes and maybe wouldn't mind having him along side him at Carrow Road. My friend works in Nandos and saw the pair of them tucking into a bit of chicken on Sunday evening. He overheard them discussing life in East Anglia as he is considering relocation. Do you reckon he's the sort of player Lambert would go in for, and how would we feel about an ex-binner joining in January? You heard it here first chaps!
He's a player bang in form and scoring goals for fun. I certainly would like him in norwich yellow, an Ashton all over again...
i think this has been doing the rounds for a while but we have been strongly linked with him. obviously pilks played with him at huddersfield and i have heard from someone at ipswich that rhodes has a strong dislike for our little neighbours down the road having been treated poorly by them when he was there - at least thats how he feels, he doesn't know if he was treated badly or not, so a move to norwich would be like a revenge move for him. is he good enough? time will tell - someone will take a gamble on him. personally, i'd rather we target jay rodriguez at burnley as i feel he would make an immediate impact in the top flight and could play on his own up top. would cost a lot though! i think rhodes would be too lightweight on what i've seen but i haven't seen him at all this season - i understand he's bulked up over the summer and improved immensely.
Rodriguez is a good shout Supers and just the type of player PL would sign.I was only thinkin of him a couple of weeks ago mate.
how much do you reckon he'd cost though crowey? could be a stumbling block. personally i could see burnley slapping a £6-8m tag on him. if we are comfortable in mid-table come january then it could be more realistic but if we are being honest, even sitting mid-table doesn't mean we are comfortable! it would be a gamble but not a big gamble - the lad is terrific and could end up playing for england one day in my opinion...
We're a bit over populated in the forward area at the moment. I'm quite surprised Lambert has put some of them out on loan especially younger players like Chris Martin who I think a full seasons worth of Championship football would do good for.
posted this on another thread about strikers. --- just because we have a large number of players who play in this position doesn't mean we shouldn't attempt to improve in that area by signing better players than what we have! if he is better than what we have we sign him and sell one of our current forwards.
I dont know how long he has on his contract so wouldnt like to guess a price.I would imagine that Burnley are well aware that the vultures will be lurking and have something in place tho
I'm thinking about the wage bill here, I'd rather be adding a few more quid to price tags to be honest with you, as I cannot see the likes of Wilbraham playing up front for us week in week out and sitting on the bench playing in the reserves won't do that. I'm all for improving but if we're continue playing one up front which perfectly suits our midfield, then the forward needs to be special because I'm not convinced with Morison and as highly as I rate Holt I don't think he can manage the fitness side of being a loan forward.
jackson - confidence striker vaughan - sicknote wilbraham - bought as a championship back up to holt during the run in morison - not convinced on his finshing - for me, holts backup super chrissy - think i'd like to see him loaned out to recapture his form of a couple of seasons ago holt - tubby legend i'd say theres room for one more...two more if we got rid of wilbraham and sent christophe out on loan...
But then who do we put in pilks place!? I would like to think the sychev story is true cause hes a cracking player, very very quick and is a very good finisher... But would proberbly come with a highish price tag!
we've money in the pot if we need it in jan. If we are in a strong position in jan I say lets get some more quality up front, something like an ashton type purchase. What if holt and Morrison get injured or banned?
Going to have to disagree with you on this one mate, there was a run of games where Surman bossed it last season but there is something a bit too casual about him sometimes which I really dislike, take the West Brom game for an example.
i'm surprised that surman hasn't (so far) made the step up. i felt he'd definitely do so. still time of course but i feel his lack of pace is the major stumbling block rather than his ability
Maybe Wolves sold him to us for a reason. Hope that is not the case, but not looking good for him so far.
Pilks is in a different league to him in my eyes, such a talent for a wideman. Surman is a quality player, but not for a winger. Maybe he would be suited where johnson plays if he was to get injured but obviousley crofts would be ahead of him. his season is by far not over but like holt said, he can understand why hes (holt) not getting games and he doesnt care cause its a team effort and that means just like holt, surman will play his part and theres no doubt about that! One thing i did think about, is not a lack of strikers or need to improve or what so ever but maybe we should invest in another winger so if pilks or benno were to get injured (god forbid) then we can keep the system and not change to much! I was thinking of sean scannell from palace, qaulity prospect...
Rhodes scored again last night! Cracking goal by all accounts. Fits Lamberts mould to of bringing on and developing lower league players
