I agree mate they could sign whoever they want but if nufc continues to allow the jonjo shelvey show we will never EVER start moving fwd
I can only assume it’s because of the training. Shelvey and Lascelles are the senior players. And them playing against duffers in training prob makes them look better until match day. It’s at this point where I don’t understand what these managers are seeing?
Whatever the reason it's a very worrying sign from the new manager. Lacelles yesterday failed with 40 of his 54 passes? That's so bad especially when he's at cb and Watford weren't pressing for 50 minutes
It’s really a case of recruitment. It’s that simple. We have had Hayden and Shelvey since Rafa decided they were the guys. In a strange way they suited that negative everyone behind the ball counter attack. Shelvey didn’t have to go box to box. Hayden wasn’t asked to play much football. The moment we’ve tried to get away from that, we seem to have forgotten that it requires movement and ability to play a modern brand of football. The last ownership have lazily played a **** version of Football Manager and ignored the pitfalls of thinking “them two are centre mids”. It matters hugely what their attributes were. If we don’t sign two centre mids, you might aswell go ultra negative again and ask Willock to provide the odd burst onto the front man. Just ****ing replace the useless ****s!
And you're right.. Tbh I have seen very clearly now the same thing. Howe unfortunately thinks he's our best player.
Howe has identified the problem areas and not prioritised cm.. Bruce did exsct8the same. All that was required was two cms and lb
Read this. You would be right. Jonjo Shelvey will 'be very important as the season develops', insists Eddie Howe as newly-appointed Newcastle manager hints at rebuilding lowly side around 'incredible technician' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...e-Howe-hints-building-team-Jonjo-Shelvey.html
The big criticism I have of Howe is why Willock is not playing instead of Shelvey. Unless he’s still struggling for fitness (which may be why Arsenal let him depart as he struggled for it there too), it makes no sense really. When the current version of Sean Longstaff is a better option than Shelvey, it does beg a very serious question!
He's that's the stat He's always **** Shelvey 2nd half Long with him cost us the game... Howe didn't sub them.. So what's he looking at?
What is the question? Shelvey is ****? Howe is making weird decisions? Longstaff is better? Or all of the three?
We shall see. If at the end of Jan we haven’t signed any central midfielders then we have a huge problem. However there is a half a window left and we don’t actually know who they are targeting.
Just why Shelvey is being picked over Willock. I’m not saying Willock can run a midfield. It’s blatantly obvious he is not that player. But he will run. Shelvey will not.
Willock and Cantwell would be a nice pairing imo.. Ideally a good DM to go with either but both together would at least give us legs throughout the pitch. I mean ffs in just a guy on the street, but legs in cm is an absolute must.. Its a must everywhere in this division..
I need to see him with some proper players rather than the same old ****e. I didn’t want him but 100 days and selling down the river for failing to improve a side hamstring by the previous performance and largely same players is not something I’d subscribe to.
I think we all agree don’t we that Shelvey is top when it comes to us wanting a player out of the team. I said the other day that he might do ok with two runners next to him in a midfield central 3 but sadly I think I was completely wrong. And to make matters worse we have him a new contract last season (I think).
Legs is right. It’s why we fade in the second half. It’s why we have lost 21 points from leading positions. Yesterday we controlled the first half and faded to **** in the second. Was that the players fault or Howes I don’t know but the common factor is Shelvey and work rate.
