Feels like some people are looking at a different league table to me. I'm not saying I'm convinced we'll go up but all the moaning and wailing seems a bit over the top to me seeing as we're in second. What I am convinced about is that we'll have a good transfer window and strengthen in key areas.
What have I said that's incorrect there? Unfortunately for me my first beer is still a few hours away.
Said it after Tuesdays game Naive ,Naive ,Naive 84 minutes in and we let them score because we thought the game was won and we had everyone chasing a second goal that we didn’t need . A serious lack of leadership by Management and the experienced players in our team who should have known better has cost us dearly AGAIN. As a club we have a history of not being to able to see out games due to lack of game management and it costs us time and time again . We need players who will tell the other players what they are responsible for - we have too many nice players rather than confrontational types !!!
We're in a false position TBF, I can't ever remember having or being 5 games in hand to other teams before, so it's not a true position. And we need to strengthen our own playing strategy first, our players are making stupid schoolboy errors on the pitch week after week, it's disgraceful really, in other lines of work people would be sacked for making so many important errors. But that responsibility lies with LJ, if he can't address the mistakes his team is making, he should be replaced. We're now in the 2nd half of the window, if we don't bring new, better players in this next week or so, then he's failing in his management role.
And Dreyfus is also failing us. He hasnt actually hardly spend anything yet in 1 and a half transfer windows.
In some ways I agree with what you are saying, I have just read through the match reports on the BBC and had a look at the League table, taking the Wycombe game as an example we were so close to beating them kast week that it hurt, today same again. Yet, reading through the stats on their game to-daythe only stat they came out top in, was foulls, they were second best in everything else, but they leap frog us and Rotherham into the top spot . Showing just what a crazy league this is and as you say anything can happen, my wish is for LJ (I cant stand the man) gets us into the top two virtue of our squad being the best in this league and then we sack him in the summer with a ready made replacement already lined up by the powers that be. This is my wish OaU
Well we are 1 point in front of Rotherham who have 2 games in hand and have already walloped us 5-0 and we are 2 points in front of Wigan-who have 5 games in hand and we only scraped a 1-0 win against them at home and we have them to play away and you think we are in a good position
The only thing worse than the result was that GOBSHITE trying to tell us it was a professional performance. Get tae ****
But is that his fault, he can't spend anything unless we find him players to improve the squad. Has he refused to buy ? Who knows, but I'm sure he didn't buy SAFC to stand still, so he must have a budget for new players. We'll find out very soon I think
Frustratingly poor again. You could tell from the off how we were going to play, had same feeling at the Lincoln game. Worse still when we drew with 10 men, same type of performance as the Shrewsbury game.
strange as it seems, had we held on or wycombe had not won we would be top now but would things be looking rosier if so? to me they would not, i doubt anything could gloss over the last two games...now as a one off this would not worry us but this is starting to look like it will be a regular thing and even if we start another 'good streak' we will all be sat waiting for the next time the entire team fail to turn up. now, as i keep saying, we are a 3rd division team with 3rd division players but in all honestly this was accrington stanley and with all due respect we should be able to attract the better 3rd division players simply due to our size and facilities yet these so called 'little teams' are giving us some damn hard games, surely we can attract players who can put in a decent enough performance on a regular basis to get us the points we need to get out...i am not expecting premier league prima donnas, at this level there will be mistakes and consistency worries but it does beggar belief when an entire squad seems to have a few bad days all at the same time as seems to happen now. first and foremost we need those two big solid no nonsense center backs and a midfield 'engine room' both neil and embleton should still be getting regular time but more as substitutes than having to start games, both have a lot to learn yet however good a shift they put in...so fingers crossed for another good window, i think they got it mostly right in the summer but need to finalise it now while we are still in an 'okay' position in the league. over to you KLD and the recruitment team!!
Rotherham lost today, right? I wonder how confident their fans are that they'll make the most of those games in hand. When it's us that's got them we tend to balls it up. You've got to think that Wigan will do something with their five games but it hasn't happened yet. As it stands we're in second. As you say we've already beaten Wigan, we can do it again.
He has transformed the club though, it was in a real mess when he took over and we are in far better shape now, he has stated that he wants to be here long term and build the club up from a solid base using our academy rather than the transfer market, I personally think this is the right way to do things, as I suspect you do too. We have watched in horror as the alternatives were played out by Short and Donald, I dont want to return to those days just yet, Given it might even mean another season in this league and a better coach in place , this club is our club and its moving in the right direction slowly but surely .
F*cking hell we are currently 2nd in the league and the grief is unbelievable Pleased were not near the f*cking bottom.
I don't scream manager out straight away but I do think irrespective of our position the last couple of games have been poor and today was a below average performance. Therefore people will be disappointed and rightly ask questions. Even if we were 10 points clear that was not great today.
