Same site no doubt. I was convinced he won a maiden at Yarmouth. I must be going mad. I do beg your pardon.

Very true. He's my wife's favourite horse too (even though we were at that Derby and she backed Sharastrani to win). And as you probably know, we have one of his grand daughters at home. I have this recollection of going through Racehorses of 1985 trying to spot the classic winners and came across the Brave, having won a maiden at Yarmouth. That has really confused me now. I've gone all this time believing that.

I reckon I'm getting confused with:

please log in to view this image

Just the one race as a 2yo, winning a Yarmouth maiden.

Arguably the greatest 8-10f horse of all time. If only he hadn't run in the Derby. Wouldn't happen these days.

To think I would have actually put money on DB winning a maiden at Yarmouth. Unbelievable. I might have to check my name soon at this rate.

There was a piece in Saturday's 'Guardian' about Noble Mission and his old hood (which was mentioned earlier in the thread). Apparently, they have been having real problems teaching him to settle and that is the reason for its deployment at home. Incidentally, the paper also reported that Sir Henry may be set to launch another regally bred one this week. Popular, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, a full sister to Midday may debut in the next few days.

Could, I say could, Sir Henry have in this pair creditable Classic contenders?!? We will find out shortly, methinks. There are certainly none better bred for the task.

Juddmonte do name their horses well, in my opinion. They have some well-thought out names amongst their current crop of 2yos, including:

CENTRICITY - out of Kinetic Force
FRENCH FRANC - by Exchange Rate
    PLINY -by Empire Maker
MERRY JAUNT - out of Light Jig
WEST COUNTRY - out of Devon Heights
TRUTH TO TELL - out of Boasting

Oddy, there is a mare in the USA called TEA COZZY. If any of her progeny ever end up over here I will let you know so that you can write to the trainer and suggest the name ;)

Oddy, that really is trying it on!

Einstein will be spinning in his box. They should have gone with Centrifugal or Centrifical. Let us hope this one comes up with some velocity without going around in circles.

This one will probably be a garlic cruncher that is always falling out with the neighbours.

Noble Mission runs in the 2.30 at Yarmouth today but drifting in the betting with William Hill, now 3/1 - but still worth having a small bet on.

If a mile is too short for Noble Mission on his debut, then the sharks will already foolishly have hoovered up all the Derby ante-post odds. If he turns out to be a ten furlong horse, his big brother will end up sticking to a mile. What price Noble Mission for the Prix Du Jockey Club?

It was interesting to see that, following the talk about the hood he works in and the speculation that it was because he had a tendency to pull, they ran him without a noseband!

It was an encouraging debut, though I disagree with QM: if he looks like being better over further I don't believe it will stop them running Frankel over 10f.

I dont no what to make of that debut really in regards to his future. Looks like being a good horse just not quite top class, he seems to lack a change of gear and i think that would be the case over whatever distance.

If all what's been said is true, and most probably is, Frankel will not need to stick to a mile but his little brother will need to dodge the 10f races chosen for Frankel.

There seems to be the assumption that Noble Mission will be good enough to run in all the top 10f races next year. This is still massively doubtful so i think talk of the programmes of the two full brothers clashing is a little premature to say the least. If he can come out and win a Maiden impressively at the start of next season then he would warrant a foray into Group company but i don't think he can be considered for those prizes just yet. He is promising and looks half decent but nothing more at the moment.
