Andrew: As a completely impartial Liverpool fan, I reckon Digne would make a better striker than Chris Wood. Don’t understand the signing

SMS Message: £25m for Chris Wood? They can have me for a £1m signing-on fee and £5k a week. I'll be the water boy. Bargain! from Marc, Villa fan (haven't played for 10 years)

If the average bbc poster thinks he's rubbish then it makes me think he's probably decent to be honest.

If Nufc had been splashing cash on young prospects or foreign stars we'd have been similarly slammed. All hot air, still likely to go down.

young stars/lots of potential would have had a envious look from me. Time to build them into a great side.

Risk though isn't it. If/when we go down I reckon Wood and Wilson will be easily good enough to fire us back up again. There's an element of hedging our bets in the transfer which I genuinely cannot argue against.

He played for us in our promotion season and part of our first season in the Prem. He's a real handful for centre backs, good in the air and much better on the deck than generally gets credit for ... excellent at holding it up and I can see him setting up chances for the likes of Saint-Maxim and Wilson (when fit) ... for £25 m in today's market (Jason Sancho etc.) I think it is money relatively well spent, given what is at stake <cheers>

Well he better improve his output/assists as he only has three goals and Burnley only 16 all season. Would have been better taking a punt on a young lad.

Imagine if Bruce had stayed adn signed him, what reaction would that have got.

Oh I agree with that. If Bruce had lost to Cambridge and then signed Wood there'd be some very different comments being made from our fans.

As I mentioned to Ponks yesterday ... much bigger clubs than the Goons will be in for him (United linked yesterday) but he won't be going anywhere until the summer at the earliesr and, if we do sell him, it will be for a Maguire-esque fee ... or we'll just keep him for next season ... simples <cheers>

You should buy Longstaff before Everton get him
