Before May 24th 2008 Hull City had won the 3rd div North title in 1949 and the 3rd div title 1966. I doubt if there were many City fans still alive who remembered any glory or silverware from the old Anlaby Road days. Our trophy cabinet had a china tea set in it given to us by Stoke in 1971. We had never been to Wembley or won anything. We promised great things under Raich Carter in the late 40's and failed to deliver, ditto in 1965/66 and again in 70/71. In contrast both RL clubs in Hull had been to Wembley several times between them and won various cups, no matter how tinpot they were, they had won something. as had Norwich City. It was drummed into me as a lad that Hull City will never get to the 1st division because 'they couldn't afford it' and who could argue with them ? People believed it. It was in our DNA. So it was no surprise that our crowds dipped as soon as we hit a losing streak, because everyone had seen it all before, as had our fathers and our grandfathers. I remember Adam Pearson saying that Hull is seen as a rugby town, only because the football has never delivered. I hated the rugby town reference but agreed 100% with the last bit. Which is why I was dismayed so much when we finally did reach the top flight, and appeared at Wembley, and finally found the key to the trophy cabinet to put something in it, that we didn't build on it. We should have built a fan base to see us through a generation at least, but we threw it all away. So I don't care if these or any new owners don't get us into the Premier League again, but I do care if we come out of it again with a fractured fickle fanbase, no backbone, and a club that no-one ( or a very few) give a toss about. We should be attracting gates of 18,000 plus every home game and that support should be solid, win lose or draw.

Nah nowhere near, 24 hours is counted in years, where as 48 hours has only been a month or two up to now
After the thrill of expectation there is going to be a feeling of despair hitting not only the fan base but the club itself. I have a couple of theories about the reason for the delays, note not delay. I think the application was sent in at the beginning of December and returned with questions. These were dealt with just before the Christmas break and sent back. Once again more questions and a final submission was sent in after the Everton game. My second theory is that the tough negotiations were very tough and at a couple of points Acun stepped back, stopping the process. We have a buyer who has an international football agent and former directors of EFL clubs. This is bound to raise questions of links and involvement. So it should not be a surprise that there is a delay.
They were responsible for our pathetic crowds in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, getting locked out of Boothferry Park as it crumbled?
