Bielsa signs a 1 year contract. So far he has honoured it. The club and coach agree this. Its a mutual agreement. Dramah signs for 4 years. Again, he and the club mutually agree. 18 months in, he has broken in to the squad and played games. Demands to leave the squad. There's a difference.
There's more than one difference, e.g. the lengths of contract & commitment required for it. A 4 year contract is a damn sight more than a 1 year contract to commit to. As I rightly said, double standards.
For a start, he's not on a rolling 1 year contract. There's no rolling about it. It starts, then ends 1 year later, unlike a rolling contract which would have 1 year to run every day, until termination, of course. But more to the point, you're discussing matters of the past - not the present. Drameh committed to 4 years, Bielsa only 1.
Dramah committed to 4 years and wanted to leave after 18 months in the middle of an injury crisis and relegation battle. Proper ****.
You may be surprised, but I actually agree with you 100%. Still double standards, though. I lost my enthusiasm for him when I first watched him compete at PL level. I reckoned that he had insufficient pace for the PL (or perhaps not prepared to bust a gut for the team?). Time to move on & welcome our new signings (says he in an over-optimistic manner).
He came on last weekend and for the first time I actually thought he looked like he had some confidence in him at this level. He ran hard, carried the ball well and tried to overlap. Makes it even more of a shame that he decided (or likely his agent) that he wants to step down a level.
We have a problem at the club due to injuries. This has meant around 10 top U23s are not playing for the 23s and only a couple of them have any chance of minutes for the first team. I believe its caused some upset in the camp, because theres no middle ground. These players normally play over 20 games per season but this season 5,6,7 made up of the odd 45mins for the 23s. In other words its no football at all unless you get a few minutes for the first team, but majority of cases is no football at all except traing. So no balance and then if you’re lucky enough to get some minutes you are expected to be a worldy? Obviously most are just keeping their heads down, but when you look at the social media replies from the 23s to Drameh they are willing him on. So dont think its cut a dried
Yeah, I understand the frustration. The timing is atrocious though. Personally I think he should have got his head down, trained his arse off and be ready to step in when needed by his teammates. At the end of the season, sit down with the club and then say he wants to go out and get 50 games under his belt. He hasn't exactly stagnated. Had an outstanding season with the 23's last season. He has progressed with England to U21 level. He has made 5 apps for the first team. This season is a bit of a disaster with injuries, covid and the club struggling. My feeling is you knuckle down and do the right thing. Not run away leaving your so called mates shorthanded and possibly costing them their jobs. It's not on, I don't like it and I won't be swayed on it. It's called being a professional and he has fallen short of the mark.
100% agree and what stupid agent thinks he knows better than Bielsa about whats good for young players?
I don’t blame Drameh, looking at it from his point… Ayling is fit, we have an abundance of CBs. When Ayling doesn’t play at RB Dallas does. When we were struggling with injuries Shackleton covered. We’re out of the cup so I won’t even get a chance in that game. I sit on the bench watching, I don’t get a chance to shine in the U23s as I have to cover the main squad. He just wants to play football, he isn’t playing for the U23s or the main squad, he is stagnating, give the lad a break. It might have been different if he was getting a few games at either level. A few have complained about U23 team selection and how the u23s are suffering, sorry Drameh leaving on loan and wanting away, that’s as much down to Bielsas handling of him
Happens elsewhere too Blackburn Rovers are close to signing Tottenham's 20-year-old English winger Dilan Markanday, who has turned down a new contract at Spurs in order to secure regular first-team football
He's a traitor and people think he will improve on loan. He has gone to Cardiff ffs not a top six champ side. Stay at leeds and learn or go to Cardiff?... What would you do?. He is after a move i reckon and to double his wages at least.
Yes but the lad has never played for Spurs, never makes the matchday squad and they aren't exactly facing relegation are they. I'm not against youngsters leaving to play football. There is a time and place to do it. Dramah and his agent have been very disrespectful to our club. He has played a part this season, he could play a part going forward but instead has opted to leave. I hope he goes well at Cardiff and we can get a solid fee for him in the summer. I don't see him coming back to us. I don't want his kind of attitude in and around the squad.
You have to have big bollox to pull it off successfully though or a big ego. For example Noni Madueki got peed off at Spurs after spending 10 years there, so left and went to Holland, now England U21 star and wanted by plenty of clubs valued at £35m. Jude Bellingham left Birmingham and we all know what hes worth now and interestingly his best mate and the kid he grew up with at Birmingham academy left them last summer and joined Leeds. Amari Miller who was MoM last night?
