Downing Street has apologised to Buckingham Palace for two staff parties in No 10 the night before Prince Philip's funeral.

The gatherings, first reported by The Telegraph, took place on 16 April 2021 and went on until the early hours.

The PM's spokesman said it was "deeply regrettable that this took place at a time of national mourning".

Boris Johnson was not at either party - but he faces questions over alleged Covid rule-breaking at No 10.

The latest party revelations led to a backlash from opposition parties, who contrasted the behaviour of No 10 staff with pictures of the Queen sitting alone at the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral, due to Covid restrictions.

The two staff get-togethers, on 16 April last year, have been added to the list of parties in government buildings being investigated by senior civil servant Sue Gray.

I listened to a podcast about it last week and a lot of that was scrawled in margins or other space on the form.

Loads of complaints from ex-service men about not returning home to decent living conditions despite a promise to build homes fit for hero's just after WW1.

Also the next census won't be released until 2052 as the '31 census was lost in a fire and there wasn't one in '41 due to the war.

Time to quit your day job...

Jimmy Donaldson, the 23-year-old American better known as MrBeast, was YouTube's highest-earning content creator in 2021, according to Forbes.

His elaborate stunts have generated more than 10 billion views on the platform and earned him $54m (£39m).

He has overtaken 10-year-old toy reviewer Ryan Kaji, who has topped the annual list for the past two years.

Together, the 10 best-paid YouTubers made a combined $300m (£218m) in 2021, the US magazine estimated.

Jake Paul is in second place, his first appearance in the top 10 since 2018, and his brother Logan also returns after being absent since 2017.

Minecraft player Nathan Graham, known as Unspeakable, makes the list for the first time in fifth place.

And yet they have never raised any issues with previous Dukes of York.

“The Grand old Duke of York, he had ten thousand men”

At the time homosexuality was illegal!
