I assume it was to do with covid bubbles etc. and the England Ladies squad therefore not being able to use the Academy for example. Seems mad and with hindsight we definitely shoudln't have offered it as a solution because it's royally screwed the pitch.
I thought we had been given a state of the art pitch, clearly we have not, it was only re grassed in the summer I must have made a mistake in thinking we had a super pitch
Decent video on the 'Desso' pitch that LJ wants (if you like this sort of thing ). Took 5 weeks to do the pitch at Palace, no chance did they lay one of these at the SoL. Simply not enough time until the end of the season.
Have a glance through the thread mate. That was the intention. It didn't happen, but is hopefully still the aim. England Ladies training on it previously and then it being mistakenly overwatered let to the state on Tuesday night though.
Doubt it will get done this close season either due to the concerts - doubt there would be enough time to sort it. Comes down to do we want a good surface OR have concerts in the summer.
Not sure of the dates of the concerts or if there will be anymore announced but I'd say the pitch needs sorting as a priority.
The Ed Sheeran gigs are early June and Elton John is 19 June. I’d say it could be done but it would be tight. Maybe they could rip the pitch up before concerts and then the day after get the nee pitch done and it could work. Be interesting to see if it’s get done.
Might need to ask for the first game or 2 to be away as well. Not sure when the next season starts either tbh. They could rip it up as soon as the last home game is done, they cover the pitch area with hard plastic tile type things for gigs anyway so it wouldnt matter if it was just mud underneath.
if the manager didn't want the pitch waterlogged then why was it if the groundsman can't be bothered to fone and ask what's required then sack him
Really? That is a new pitch? Bloody hell, what are we doing? Or not doing? It is awfull. Bare patches, bobbly, sticky. It's like it was me who was looking after it. We are not the only club to have a closed in ground, but we seem to have more trouble than any other club in getting a decent pitch. There are non league teams with better pitches than us.
LJ said earlier in the season that if he had £1m to spend it would be on a brand new pitch, so he had doubts about it months ago.
Johnson was asked in an interview shown on tonights Look North about Defoe coming back to Sunln, he didn't dismiss it and waxed lyrical about what a great player he was for us and said a lot of things would have to come together for it to happen. I'd love him back here as long as he was protected by match officials. If he did come back I'd do everything I could to attend a game at the SOL just one last time to see the little bugger playing in the red n white stripes.
Does anyone else think that by now the club have had enough time to investigate the cause of the pitch being waterlogged?
