Last thought of the night - we should stick to known Premiership players (NB - I've just seen an old story with Henri Saivet holding a Toon shirt and telling the media that he wants to sample the St James Park atmosphere). We really don't need trash at the mo ....
Haidara and Carlos. I said yesterday and I think they may happen by the end of the window. Haidara for £35m and Carlos for 30m. That would be £102m spent on 4 players. That would be special right.
Special? No, that would be necessary and still not enough! We need a big player in both CM and CB, without question, but we're in DIRE need of a left back. I'm still gobsmacked that we're lining up with Matt Ritchie, who alongside Clark and Lascelles has been our biggest liability this season. I think whoever said about AFCON getting in the way might be right.
IF and its a big IF Dummett plays tomorrow as LCB it may not be as a bad. He's slow but he reads the game really well. He may be able to point stuff out to Ritchie.
Yep, it's a good shout. Dummett's return to fitness probably solves the issue 'til Summer. Lewis was doing well, so maybe there's a player there. Certainly if Lewis and Dummett are fit, no need for a LB or at least not a priority signing, unlike CB and CM. I wonder if he'll go 5 because of the issues with LB this weekend? There are definitely options. Just don't play 2 in CM, is all I ask.......4-3-3. 3-5-2. 5-3-2, 4-2-3-1. Lot hinges on Dummett or Lewis. Genuinely, if we don't have either we shouldn't be in a back four, Ritchie's so bad. I wouldn't have Ritchie in any line up, if I could help it, he's like Gayle, well past his sell by date. If Lewis/Dummy aren't fit, I'd probably just stick with Clark at LCB (I know, stuck between a cock and a hard place) and put Almiron as LWB. I reckon, like Joelinton's transition from FWD to CM, he's better suited to a completely different role. I mean, he's a **** attacker so why have him in attack? But he works hard and is fast, and one footed.
Based on our current points tally, league position and squad strength... It would be the bare minimum and a large gamble, leaving key areas (CD/LB/CM/S) understrength for our attempt to escape relegation.
Also remember that Sarr is probably fit, the thought of Ritchie and Clark marking and stopping him terrifies me.
And Leeds and Aston villa and Southampton and Everton and Liverpool and Man city and Manchester United and Chelsea and Arsenal and Tottenham and Leicester and West ham and Wolves and Brighton and Crystal palace and Brentford
This works for me. Change the song lads "ee ii ee ii ee ii oh up the premier league we go, when we get to" ........... It's not gonna happen is it?
In other news I see that's Ethiopia are pretty much out of AFCON I quickly opened up their squad list to see who we may like but didn't recognise any names. Sure Nixon may spot one or 2 up and coming hungry young players. ......I'll grab me coat.
We have been linked with Owen Wijndal/Tagliafico (LB) but the rumours disappeared quickly. I think we will sign 2 more, cb and cm that's my guess. CB Botman Carlos Badiashile Milenkovic CM Kamara Haidara Veretout ?? Any of those cbs and cms will be improvement than the dross we have. We'll see if that clueless Celtic man or whoever is in charge of can pull off these deals.
