    The poll that you referenced appears to show voters deserting the Tories, almost certainly because of the current run of scandals involving Boris. The only real beneficiary of this seems to be the protest vote Lib Dems. If Labour were remotely credible they would be twenty points ahead as moderate Middle England voters would flock to them like they did Blair in 1997.

    When asked how they would vote now, the great unwashed completely forget about all the things that matter and ‘vote’ on their emotions about the current good or bad news. Immediately after Brexit and before the pandemic, Boris was riding high in the polls because the populist had done what he promised when he was elected by a landslide. Since then Bolshevik Boris and Socialist Sunak have pursued One-Eyed Brown policies not Conservative ones.

    It also seems pertinent to point out that these surveys always take the format “If there were a general election held tomorrow, which party would you vote for?” There is no election tomorrow. By the next general election there may be a new PM and Labour will still be unelectable.
