Yeah, seemed like a win to us, but some people always look for a negative in every positive. It's a long list ... Castro My missus Er... feel free to add more
If they have claimed Asylum, then they have a right to have their cases heard, if they come from a country at war, or under tyranny then they are refuges, which most of them are, the ones that come from say, North African countries are illegal immigrants, it’s not hard to show compassion for your fellow human is it, but for the grace of God
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you have it right. Immigrants should apply for asylum in, remain in and be processed by the first country they arrive in. Official processes then determine their next steps. Many are entering the UK by illegal means of entry, be it back of lorries, boats, whatever. Legal ways of entry are through border control. People trafficking is not legal. IMO, the whole situation is an unsustainable utter shambles and disgrace, from all perspectives, and the government are failing miserably in addressing the issues.
Technically, as I said above, even those from North African countries aren't illegal immigrants, as arriving here and asking for asylum isn't illegal even if they don't get granted it ultimately. The fact it takes longer than it should to process their applications is another matter. Entirely agree that compassion is important though, and I wouldn't want to be in any of their positions. We're lucky to be born in Hull
I've not been for a couple of years, and it seemed okay then, but given the numbers fleeing it, and the reasons given, it does make me wonder how bad France actually is these days.
We never were. The agreement with France is separate to the EU rules, and designed to reduce the numbers entering France in transit for the UK.
My apologies. I've just realised what thread this is. So as hypocritical as it surely makes me, enough of the migrant stuff on here please. It's border line for this board full stop, as we all know where it will end up.
I will You are wrong Whether you should be right is another matter, but it isn't actually illegal to leave any country and ask for asylum in any another one. There's no such things as illegal means of entry either. Think about you sailing in your yacht (ok SW3s) and missing the Isle of Wight and ending up in France. That wouldn't have been illegal, and if you had your passport with you you could go in, if not you would have to go back, either way that act in itself wouldn't be illegal. The only illegal part is if they evaded passport control and were subsequently picked up in the UK.
