The mags can defend these types of signing all they want, but it certainly isn't what a fair few of them expected, especially those who I meet on a daily basis. On the flip side, these will do them short term because they can throw enough money at trying to stay up and then ditch them next season if they have to. That's what being rich does for you. All that money will only become effective once they have established themselves as a Premier League club, not a perennial struggler
at this moment in time, you do get the feeling that the deal could work more in burnleys favour...they 'get rid' of a lad who is not scoring as they would like to a fellow 'relegation contender' and have a decent wedge with which to bolster their own squad, woods has never been prolific and at best is someone who chips in with a few goals so really needs to improve his strike rate near 100% to help keep the mags up (presuming others do not step up to the task) and right now i cant see him doing that. while not a massive attraction themselves, burnley might grab one or two from the lower leagues looking to make a name/put them in front of a wider audience...somehow, no one has really been left too far away from safety although i honestly cannot see norwich improving.
Guarantee that if there was no takeover, and Bruce was still there, the fans would be shouting at shops over the signing of woods. No ambition they would say.
Cascarino in The Times today trying to curry favour with the mags by saying Wood is the perfect signing That said, he also claims to have scored a hat trick at Roker Park for Gillingham and there were loads of Newcastle fans in the away end signing his name No you didn't Tony, you got 2 that day. I was there. And there were a smattering of mags in the home end cowering like babies trying desperately not to give themselves away
Yeah we'd much rather have been showing our ambition by paying £40m for Joelinton, rather than half of that for a striker who has been his club's top scorer for the last 4 years
damn, tried to post summit i just seen on f/book but says no longer available...something along the lines of nufc have apparently made a 67 million euro bid for french player Panique Bye...one reply says 'BS he is in the african cup' then some numpty comes back with 'they can still bid, they have agents to sort it for them'
Sunderland echo says he got a hat trick as well - are they wrong too? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.su...tic-relegation-division-three-1987-299776?amp
I know he's not done much in Ligue 1, but Bordeaux are apparently willing to tske a loss on Maja due to their financial problems and his contract not having long to run, and he's also supposed to be one of their better prospects for getting cash in. £3 million or so for him and I could see Burnley having a punt on him. That woukd see them still have £22 million to bring in someone else
http://thestatcat.co.uk/Match.aspx?MatchID=846&LU=S&LUID=108 Pritchard got the 1st one according to this
that is the one sir, cheers ...it was the seperate comment on the post claiming the agent could still sort the move out that got me though
Cascarino got a hat trick in the first leg, and the text in the article he posted confirms that. The Mag must have missed where you said Roker Park
