It's gone way beyond drinks in a garden (on multiple occasions I might add, probably several times a week the way the evidence is coming out). It's about the PM constantly lying about it in public, in the press, in parliament. He flatly denies every allegation until more evidence crops up that refuted what he said the day before. "There were no parties", "Err, well no rules were broken", "Um, well they were work meetings", "But, I'm furious about all this I knew nothing about it", "Well, I was there, but I didn't realise that inviting 100 people to my garden with booze was a party, I was only there for exactly 25 minutes even though yesterday I couldn't even remember anything about the party, I mean work meeting". The guy is a fraud and he's laughing at the plebs, he really hasn't moved on since the days of the Bullingdon Club. You and me are peasants. And I loved watching him squirm in yesterday's PMQs.
Seriously though mate, EVERY politician lies, they either get caught or they don’t. Brexit has made Boris a lot of enemies. I believe he was just rewarding staff for hard work, wrong but in my opinion not end of the world stuff. For me there are tons more important issues ahead and I’d prefer Boris tackling them than most others. If there had been a slight relaxing of the rules allowing you to meet socially distanced outside they still wouldn’t have relaxed care homes and hospitals full of vulnerable people.
I'd agree, they all lie - to some degree. But with Johnson it seems indicative of the way he is in general. He seems physically unable to tell the truth about anything. He's been sacked from two previous jobs for lying. It's important for the public to have trust in the people that govern and for me he's lost all credibility. He's losing support among the electorate, he's losing support among the Tory party. He's a dead man walking.
Except the current PM sets the tone at the top. His governments guidance specifically stopped work gatherings and that message was repeatedly rammed home and that applied to any of the NHS and people drafted in to support - who were far more worthy of reward than his outer office. People have been fined for not following the rules. They organised that party because they knew Boris didn't care about the rules. If he had cared, it wouldn't have been organised in the first place.
I'd say most politicians have core beliefs and values... or at least start out with them until power corrupts. You might not agree with their beliefs, but they have them. You know what they stand for. I'd also agree they are slippery as hell and will be economical with the truth and evasive whenever it suits, but they generally have some beliefs that got them into politics in the first place. Boris doesn't. He just wanted to be prime minister. He doesn't have any values or any morals of any sort. He headed up the leave campaign because it gave him exposure not because he believed in Brexit. He's a patholigical liar, proven time and time again. The British public had a dilemma - choose between an affable oaf who seemed like he might provide some cabaret.. or a scary humourless tool in Corbyn, who had a set of beliefs but not ones very palatable to most of us. They chose the oaf. What they've found is that whilst your mate who lights his own farts and makes up some good stories about the girls he hasn't actually slept with, might be good value on a night out, he's not ideal to run the country. You reap what you sow. No one should be disappointed, he's delivered what was in the brochure for anyone who read the small print. He's got away with his shenanigans until now. You can blag and bullshit your way past the british public, but you can't insult them. And they now feel insulted. The wrath of the great unwashed is being unleashed.
I know as an outsider and an apolitcal person it's none of my buisness, but it doesn't really matter who is in charge because the opposition are always going to have a go and try and find ways to discredit you.
yep that's what oppositions do, they're not really having to here though fella... he does a good job of discrediting himself without needing anyone's help
True, but he isn't as stupid as he acts. I can understand the public being pissed off because he was having a party and breaking covid rules and they couldn't see dying relatives etc etc (thankfully I wasn't in that position) but isn't it a bit of a mountain out of a molehill. I mean there must be more pressing matters in the world to sort out. Just my opinion though.
The parliamentary smoke screen “Let’s all argue about drinks in the garden so we don’t have to discuss important matters”. That applies to all politicians as far a I’m concerned. Mentioned the other day about energy prices. Well just had my review from my current energy supplier From the end of feb they are looking for the following increases 64% on electricity 194% on gas I’m waiting for action from Boris on this And what action/questions is Starmer doing about it. Ps if I look on the open market prices are even worse, discuss
It's being turned into a mountain because the left have nothing to offer. Their only tactic is to knock anyone who oppose them.
Exactly Shaks. It’s true you reap what you sow but when you only have one crop worth planting you have no choice but to go with that.
As I have said before Like many I have shook my head at some of what's gone on with this government over the last couple of years. Then I remember the shadow cabinet at the last election Jeremy Corbyn, Angela Eagle, Emily Thornberry, John McDonnell, Diane Abbott, Rebecca Long-Bailey, Jonathan Ashworth, Angela Rayner, Richard Burgon, Dawn Butler. Just makes you think what state the country would be in now if that pile of s**t had got in.
