with all the talk about obertan having ****e end products, it seems guti has really turned a corner and all of a sudden he's got a brilliant end product ...he's definatley been reviatalised by his new contract but its just come out of no where and i think its testiment to our coaching staff who have obviously had him working on it because in the last three matches he's been the best player on the pitch imo scoring against wolves, seting up ba against spurs and best against wigan (if best had been more clinical) and ontop of this him and ben arfa look to have a really good understanding between them down the left side could see the pair of them causing alot of mayhem for other teams

on another note good to see garth crooks recognising our hard work although i am pissed at him saying we're mixing it with "genuine" top 4 contenders when we've already shown we're on a par with two of those so called teams...also a nice fact that krul has the bbest save ratio in pl!

If he can rewrite time, couldn't he go back and change his parents so he doesn't look like Emile Heskey with a double stroke and an addiction to Werthers originals.

I would rather have the Reapers attack me than have to look at his face for a minute:

His end product is still **** a lot of the time although I do love him and he is improving. His work rate is Rooney-esque

    http://www.eplindex.com/newcastle-wigan-stats-analysis/

Stats on Wigan game, but also a nice piece on Obercantcross and Jonas.

Obertan had 1 cross out of 5 hit a team mate while Jonas as 4 out of 7.

"This season, Gutierrez has provided 6 successful crosses out of 31 (19%)* and it is noticeable that the number of crosses attempted has increased in the last few games. Whether this is more emphasis from Pardew, more confidence to take on defenders and cross with his left foot or even being able to attack more, with Ryan Taylor being able to cope better at left back and therefore, leaving Gutierrez more opportunity to attack – is open for debate.

Gabriel Obertan has only supplied 19 crosses this season, but only 2 have been successful (11%). Hopefully, with Pardew recognising this as an area for improvement, we will see some progress in the near future. In his interview, Pardew defended Obertan – stating that his age (22) and his lack of Premier League experience (14 games in 3 years at Manchester United) contributed to the lack of activity in the final third. However, Sylvain Marveaux is only a few years older with less Premier League experience, but arguably looks more capable than Obertan.

In Marveaux’s brief appearances as substitute, he has created 4 chances (including one assist) in 37 minutes – averaging one chance every 9 minutes. Comparing this to Obertan, he’s created 12 chances in 745 minutes – averaging one chance in every 62 minutes."

Marveaux also set up 2 or 3 against Forest. So deserves a start

In fairness to him against Wigan two of those unsuccessful ones were driven into exactly the right place but no one was there. Stats are useless, actual visual analysis works better and he does need to be dropped for a game. I don't think he's useless, but competition would be good for him.

Definetly not useless. Definetly needs time, but would drop him for now
