He resigns in disgrace, proffering a deep heartfelt apology for the gross errors of judgement and promising to spend his days working to repair the pain and suffering caused to the population of the UK. (Yes, I know this last ones a bit of a longshot )

I agree, but it's an easy one for him on that front. Bodger ****ed up and everyone knows it, but that's about as far as it'll go. Not much that the opposition can do about it and none of it will stick to the party itself. This is a nice touch, though:
