Need to crack on 3 weeks left Stinks of Levy so far Tottenham want to sign a right-back, midfielder and attacker during the January transfer window after a meeting between manager Antonio Conte, chairman Daniel Levy and managing director of football Fabio Paratici. I've been more impressed by Villa tbh. Been snapping up some excellent young talent from the division below like Buendia, Watkins, Cash and Konsa. They've also shown a willingness to give PL proven players a second chance, like Martinez, Ings and now Coutinho and probably Digne. There have been some flops in and among them but I admire their ambition and also the way they backed Smith and now Gerrard, getting deals done quickly and decisively. From the outside looking in, you'd be forgiven for assuming they were playing in a CL final three years ago having moved into the most state of the art stadium in the world, while we were pushing for promotion from the Championship. Is it really that hard to run the club sensibly and with ambition? Really?
Surprised Conte delayed it by a month but I’m guessing he wanted to be really sure. Hopefully they’re all on the same page and we will see some activity soon Tick Tock Tottenham…
Ings or Watkins would have been ideal for Spurs The rest don’t really massively impress me although Coutinho is a coup and I think he will do well for them although I can see why Spurs didn’t go for him as not sure where he would fit
Given where we want to go and the money available to get there, Conte can't afford to make mistakes, so acting in haste and repenting at leisure isn't an option. Now it's about whether there's the ambition and conviction from the owners, sufficient to make the necessary deals happen. No more "really, we tried" bullshit. No more final day Dybala's or Moutinho's; no more buying Rodon, or Sissoko or Aurier when they weren't wanted by the coach and no more coach who's grateful for the job and won't rock the boat when our business doesn't solve the problems identified. If Levy thinks he can 'manage' Conte, to save a few bob, he's got a nasty shock coming.
If you mean the likes of Watkins, Olise and Eze for example, while we either slept or spaffed tens of millions on Fat Boy Slow and Sicknote Lo Celso, then yes.
Eze went to Palace for 16 mill rising to 20 mill…smart signing We spent 10 mill on Jack Clarke so he can buffer up some Championship team on his 3rd year out on loan Penny wise, Pound stupid Exibit A
Paid 5mill for Dele…flog him for 20…profit…Levy’s favourite word But no let’s focus on the money we won’t get back for Ndombele and keep him forever whilst he rinses us of 200k a week Penny wise, Pound stupid Exibit B
Lol Celso will come good once we get a manager that plays to his strengths in his dream formation Don’t worry D
W M ------------O Only '120K' a week (what's an actual wage drain of 6m pa when you could have been theoretically bleeding an extra 4m ... ?? ) .
