At what point did you feel truly comfortable though?

After the 3rd goal?............Relatively young Saints fan but also on recreational drugs.
After the 4th goal?............Slightly older Saints fan but now on Beta Blockers.
After the final whistle?......All old Saints fans who still have the mental capacity to remember Tranmere 2001.
In the car on the way home?........Me, but only after Radio Solent had confirmed it.
    .................................................

Ward-Prowse MOM for that tackle alone.
Salisu was excellent against a very physical opponent.
Lyanco must play every game. It's a long time since we had nutter in the side.

I would also like to say it was just brilliant to be able to bring on not just Armstrong, but Adams and then Armstrong II. It felt like the first time in ages we have been able to turn to the bench and the opposition have had to be worried. It’s a team game and we have developed a really good squad.

Might be in a minority but I still really like AdzArma, he will come good for us, I’m convinced.

That was a result that had been comig for a long while and I feel will utlimately cement our place in the Premier League next season. I agree about JWP but I felt that Perraud played really well too. It was a good allround performance even though we were helped by a goalkeeping error with the second goal and two defensive howlers for the 3rd and 4th goals. Brentford only looked threatening when they took the equaliser and for odd spells in the second half. I think Toney looked poor for them and they did not ask any questions of Saints until the around 85th minute when you could appreciate how they had managed to secure points previously. Ultimately the points belonged to Saints. Where are Ralph's detractor's now?

I know talkSport hate Saints but in the Drive show during one of their regular betting items everyone backed Brentford to beat us by up to 1-3. Great listening to experts. You would have thought we were playing Man City with our under-12’s team

Yeah, heard a bit of that. Charlie Austin was on. He’s like an oven ready talksport host, as he has all the twatty tendencies necessary.

Given we played 90 minutes with 10 men just 3 days before last night's game, it just makes the result even more impressive. How Prowsie had the energy to race back and make that goal saving tackle towards the end last night I do not know. We understandably looked tired in the last 15 mins but that was always to be expected. I thought Tella did a great job at RWB as well - not a position he normally plays in but ran his heart out and did a good job for the team.

What I've seen over the last few weeks is really encouraging. There's a real togetherness and strong team spirit within the squad and that really showed against Spurs and Swansea in the face of adversity. We've now got a decent shot of finishing in the top 10 and that would be a great achievement.

Shame there were so few there to see it last night. I know we are living in Covid times and it was a rearranged game on a Tuesday night, but I thought the hope of a new exciting beginning at Saints under new ownership might have garnered a good crowd. It was the emptiest I can remember seeing the ground for a PL game for a long time. Atmosphere was pretty good though. Thought they might announce the new owners or something but I didn't even know they were there until I got back from the game.

Flag watch: Serbian flag (new owner) expected to see that one. Albanian flag (Broja), and 2 Ghana flags (Salisu) unexpected, but I'm a geography man who enjoys flags so I'm all for it.

Don't have a lot to say about the game itself that hasn't been said. The energy, commitment and determination to win were evident across the entire team and subs. Particularly impressive when you consider most of that team played 120 minutes a few days ago, 90 with 10 men. There was a lot of communication among the team, particularly in the moments when Brentford were on top. The 3 in the middle bossed it for most of the game. There was always one there to mop up if anything got through the first two. Tella put in a fantastic shift out of position. Perraud was superb, his energy to sprint down the left even late in the game when we were 3 goals up was impressive. JWP was a man possessed, he played two different positions during the match, and even his corners were mostly dangerous! And that goal saving tackle at the end was immense. What a hero. Really delighted for the players to get such a big and deserved win. Next couple of games will be tough, but the pressure is off. We can just go and give it a good go. Great start to the new era. So many good things about our game last night. I'm pleased that we seem to have dropped that tactic of the goalie and defence farting about with the ball in the penalty area, think we were are more inclined to wellie the ball the ball out of danger now. Probably doesn't please the purists but with speedy forwards it can be productive and it reduces the time the opposition have to organise their defence.

The time for passing it round the back is when we have possession and are recycling it back to have a better attack. Not when defending an attack

The purists will have the time as “always”. But it is is one of the biggest cause of goals (for example the palace cup game at the weekend with Butland)

With Chelsea pushing the Top 4, they may not want to sell to them.

I'm one of those who stayed away. Didn't fancy the two hour drive back to London on a Tuesday night, with an early shift today. Kicking myself now, because that drive home would have been a breeze in the circumstances.

    You can thank me later.
