He'll be playing tonight according to some Brighton fans, if they get clearance from the FA of course.

Will probably watch it since it's on Sky.

If FM serves me correctly each player can only play for a certain number of clubs on loan per season...

Nevertheless, this works well - Krul is first-choice, Elliott plays in the reserves, and our backup keepers get games elsewhere. Simples.

Got any proof that Ashley actually wants Harper out? No, of course not.
This is just a one month loan, for a guy to get a bit of match fitness. He's not played a competitive game for a while now, and whilst match fitness isn't as much of a problem for goalies as it is for other positions, it does still play a part in their performance. It's not some grand conspiracy by Mike Ashley, and it's nothing to kick up any fuss about.

We've now loaned out 4(!) goalkeepers this window.

Yep, but who's playing our reserve games now? Soderberg, Alnwick, Harper and Forster all out on loan.

    Where did Soder go?

We've got that 16 yr old - the keeper coaches son I think. I presume he is, or Elliot.

    Soderberg's at Darlo. Saw about Woodman's son, but he's only 14 <yikes>

Yeah, the 16 year old is another keeper - Mitchell i think he was called.

And there's also apparently another one Aidan Grant but i think he's another kid.

    Either way, theres a LOT.

    Thanks for both.

There's a recall, so if Krul/Elliot gets injured, we can get him back.

It would be interesting to see who would be first choice if Krul gets injured.

Yeah, it could well be that. Or it could be raising some interest so that we get him off the wage bill in January. Mike's running a tight ship here and 3 decent goalkeepers isn't viable, especially if one is earning >30k a week and not playing. Harps will be gone in Jan imho but only time will tell. And i'm not kicking up a fuss, it seems i'm one of the few who thinks he isn't quite good enough...

He is good enough, just not as good as Krul and so hasn't got a future here.

How many keepers are actually on Newcastle's books at the minute?

Soderberg, Krul, Elliot, Harper, Forster, Alnwick, Baird, Grant, and Mitchell. Have I missed any?

Seems one position we would never be short on, and also seem to produce some decent quality keepers as well. Wish it was like this in other positions.
