Agreed with both highlighted points. We got rid of Roofe and not replaced. We were lniked to Daryl Dike who i've been told is a natural goal scorer but he got snapped up by WBA last week. We got linked with Arthur Cabal at Young Boys a couple of weeks ago but it went silent on the subject.. We signed Rodrigo who is a Spanish International striker and force him in to Midfield. This we'll only sign better is getting beyond annoying as members of the fanbase take it as Gospel, it feels like a cop out from with in the management structure of the team. We know there is better out there but we are not signing them. We seem to be sitting on our hands while the likes of Everton, Villa and Newcastle snap everybody up.
Rads is happy with bielsas small squad as it makes him money. But if we getvrelegated this or next season his investements will go down the pan.
I said this on Twitter the other week on twitter when the magic phrase came out of Bielsa's mouth and got slated for it.
We were toothless up front yesterday, and have been all season. Bamford out, Rodrigo out, Roberts wouldn't score in a brothel and Joffy not getting enough game time. That's it, we have no other striker options. As for Bielsa not criticising VAR, I think it's a big mistake. Klopp throws his toys out of the pram for any perceived error and I can assure you it's in the minds of the officials next time out. Nice guys get nowhere but we know he won't change. Madness.
The problem is we've got 2 of those who we've forced in to a Midfield position which last time Rodrigo isn't a CAM he's a striker. I was a ghast when I was Greenwood upfront yesterday. He's had no time in the 1st team but we threw him straight in to the starting 11. We had 9 days to sign a striker but we haven't. These problems should have been identified back in November/December time and we should have been making moves to get people in. I've now got this fear that it's going get to deadline day and we got nothing and the obvious excuse comes out.
How can you go in to any season with out 2 spare strikers? You look at previous managers and we had more than 1 spare striker. You look at Grayson's first championship season we had Becchio, Somma, Paynter and McCormack. Blackwell had Blake, Moore, Cresswell, Healey and Hulse. This small squad mumbo jumbo is hurting us. There is no way we can go through a Premier League season on a minimum sized squad fielding kids against the likes of Ronaldo and Lukaku
It's been a crazy season for us for sure. Now we are out the FA Cup that's our season over. time for the board and Manager to get their heads together and get all the questions out on the table and ask why is it already over and do we have enough to stay up. Yes injuries has wrecked our season and it looks like it will for the near future. my question to the board would be: Does this injury wrecked squad keep us up? Why are we getting so many long term injuries rather than niggles? do we live in hope and keep calm and wait for players to come back and hope they keep us up ? "The old chestnut when we get players back we will be ok" but how long do we wait for this old chestnut? its nearly bloody Feb and we still massively under bodied. Seriously right now we aren't good enough we are really lucky Newcastle,Norwich,Burnley have been total ****aroo. Cooper,Rodrigo,Gelhardt,Bamford why can't we keep them fit? We desperately need a striker. Bamford has missed so much time even when he's back he's going to need time, it could be march before he's back on song can we wait that long? Roberts is not good enough and seriously hand on heart he wouldn't get in any current Premier League side so why is he getting in ours? Rodrigo just doesn't play Leeds United for whatever reason good player but it's not working here and he's always getting knocks. Gelhardt is the future but is he our answer right now? he's also another hard to keep fit. Dan James is not a striker. so why the fook do we keep trying him there? it doesn't work what are we trying to prove? The simple answer is we need a fooking striker. it's not rocket science. Defensively i think we are sound till the end of the season but again the majority need to stay fit. Midfield on a offensive assessment is probably one of the worst in the league Defensively in Midfield we have enough even without Phillips. We need players in the upper spine because after the halfway line it just falls apart.. I'm just frustrated as hell because we aren't seeing what we really have and I understand what the board and Manager see if everyone was fit but hanging on waiting for these could cost us dearly.
We officially have 4 strikers if you consider gelhardt 1st team squad. bamford Rodrigo Roberts Gelhardt problem is: 1. mb has tried to convert two of them to midfielders (so they are ‘multi-purpose’ as befitting his small squad philosophy) 2. none of them are out and out goalscorers.. excepting the kid - who isn’t really premier league proven 3. they’re all fckg injured
what position does he consider himself? interviewer: is your best position striker? RM: no gracias interviewer: so you are a winger? RM: no senor interviewer: ahh… so you see yourself as a 10? RM: nop interviewer: you are a midfielder then RM I think no senor interviewer: so what position do you play? RM: I am Rodrigo, I am a free spirit
On the contrary Mr Siddas as I think you'll find our season is just about to begin in earnest. With our current squad and given the amount of injuries it surely will be one hell of a battle to avoid relegation. Buckle up everyone.
There's too much to answer to quote sections so I'll name people instead... Siddas... Yes it's been a crazy season with the injuries and I've never seen anything like this. This squad can't keep us up with out buying players. Newcastle are signing anyone they can. Wood, Cantwell and Aaron Ramsey are the 3 latest names linked to them along with 2 CBs from France. Start of the season I would have thought Newcastle were gonnas but now I'm not so sure. When you look at certain players are they really Prem Quality? Let's be honest the answer is no and it doesn't help certain players are 30 plus or older. We've needed more than a striker this season and we really need to put our hands in our pockets if Drameh and Summerville go out on loan. We can't keep on putting the likes of Ayling and Dallas in what ever position looks trendy this week. We're sound defensively until we get another CB injured and we have to move Ayling back in to position that's not naturally his. CDM if Forshaw get's injured then it's not good and we have to hope Bate can step up to the mark... is he ready for that? Milkyboy... So I'm not the only who see we've got 4 strikers but we've bunged 2 in to the wrong position. This small squad mentality doesn't work we need all our positions covered not slotting players in to cover injuries.
Llorente out for this weekend suspended and Firpo must be a massive doubt after his concussion substitution. Apparently it's minimum of 6 days before he can play again so I guess it will depend on how he feels over the next couple of days. Ayling came off and we don't know why, hopefully nothing wrong there as he's not one who usually gets the hook. Also Meslier took a heavy knock in the incident where Firpo was injured and if he goes on the injured list we may as well start planning for the Championship.
