Iceland has a very small population with a very high vaccination rate so it's no surprise if there are more infections in vaccinated people. They make up the vast majority. Fortunately, those who are vaccinated have milder symptoms and as such hospital admissions have remained low. Those who are admitted to hospital are mostly unvaccinated. You're not "twice as likely" to catch COVID if you're vaccinated, the study that he cherry picked that graph from suggests you're 13 times more likely to be hospitalised if unvaccinated. As OLM has already pointed out, the guy's a ****.
But the data is normalised to show per 100k. Population size & vaccine uptake are already factored in. It still doesn’t explain why if your fully vacc’d you are twice as likely to catch covid.
There's only 350,000 people there, you only have to multiply those 'per 100000' figures to get actual numbers! There's about 1000 infections per day in Iceland, and there are roughly twice the number of infections in vaccinated people. So say 666 people, but that's out of a pool of 315,000 (90% of population). The remaining 333 cases are unvaccinated, but only from 35,000. You are no where near twice as likely to catch Covid as a vaccinated individual.
Canada impose Health Tax on all unvaccinated.... Vietnam are ordering all hospital bills to be paid 100% by unvaccinated...
I agree with it but can't see that happening. The 1922 Committee/backbenchers would never allow it; plus the PM's 'authority' to dish out any new C-19 restrictions is totally dashed, nevermind something that would be perceived as that draconian. I don't think a new incumbent would dare touch it either, from either side of the House.
