Botman is, deliberately I imagine, a left footer. That means playing Lascelles alongside him. The other lad from Monaco with the long name is also a left footer. The focus is not on 'just' centre backs, but on left footed, progressive centre back. That means playing Lascelles, who is a right footed ****ing plodder. That also means no faith in a) Clark (understandable) or b) Schar. Whether they sign Botman is another thing. £45m for a CB from France seems mental to me, but maybe he's worth it. There are players out there like Ginter and Luiz Felipe who are free in the Summer. Clubs in a better position than us aren't going to pay money now - why aren't we trying to lay £10m or so on these clubs to force their hand?? Here's just some who are free in 5 months: CB - Ginter, Tarkowski, Felipe, Romagnoli, Denayer, Zagadou, Christensen MF - Brozovic, Kessie, Zakaria, Grillitsch, Isco, Kamara FW - Dybala, Lacazette, Dembele, Belotti, Aznoun, Brereton Diaz, Origi Then there's all the clubs in major debt, in Spain, France, Italy. Honestly, I lived with an expected the ineptitude from Ashley but this leaves me absolutely baffled.
I don't think it's possible. It would need them to set up a whole new level of member which would be a massive hassle.

The fact is we don't know what they are doing. It almost certainly won't be what the twitter experts are saying they are doing. They could already be going down those lines without giving anything away publicly. I swear half the media and twitter experts get their info from forums like this one.
