I think the first bit gives you a clue as to why the last bit sometimes happens. Every footballer does that, it's not unique to Greaves.
Remember once at Rotherham in the Cup and he scored a hat trick. I've always thought there is a very good player in Tom Eaves. If he had the same coaching as Billy Whitehurst had when he first joined City then we would have a real beast playing for us.
I think his passing is good in terms of quality. He hits it long and cross-field a lot which never comes off, but that's surely on the management, it must be an instruction to keep trying that.
I see Jones is on the bench for Morecambe V Spurs, he's been playing in a lot of league games, hopefully, will get on to play some part.
Really agree with this. Eaves has spent all his time here isolated in a 4-3-3 and also because we've played with wingers who cut in rather than get to the line, I really don't think he has thrived. Clearly not a world beater and his touch is variable but he's always seemed to me like a confidence player who just needs someone to say 'the number 9 shirt is yours' for at least 3-4 games. Hope he gets that chance alongside Tyler Smith or even better alongside KLP.
Great game and really enjoyed it. Very proud of our team. Greaves was extremely fortunate not to give away two penalties but the lad throws his body at everything and he leaves it all out there. His passing and especially his heading must improve but there’s a player there no doubt. KLP wasted in that position and he was no where near MOM last night, Honeyman didn’t change the game like Gray but he was our MOM by a mile for me. Eaves was about 90% of what was required of a very competent centre forward. Given a run in the team playing like that every week we might see the best of him and he was so unlucky not to score at the end. He did everything right but a great save. Could go on regarding many of the players. I was so pleased with the performance of so many. I loved the effort and there were some tired legs out there at the end. Also well done to McCann, substitutions all good at the right time. Good effort all round.
Whilst all our sentiments last night and today have been the same and they were earned, the fact is we didn't win against a poor premiership team.. One man beat us in truth. What we did do last night is set a bar to a level that mustn't be allowed to drop. 4 of our next 5 are at home and for me anything less than 10 points from those games means last night was nothing more than a good night out. It showed just what this group can do and that without any reinforcements. Dropping to versus Blackpool levels just isn't an option for us.
Maybe so I don’t know but he’s decent when playing it simple and that’s what I would be telling him to do because he’s very good otherwise.
