Tanganga is somebody I thought would be a good fit for Conte's system, but him being converted into a RB seems to have blunted his as a CB Rodon's performance has me wondering if we brought him back too quick after the rib injury ruled him out the other night
Sess’s delivery has been poor but yeah, he’s at least tried, as has Davies. Gil’s been lively but our £100m pairing of CMs are incapable of playing meaningful passes in to him or Dele.
No subs at half time? At the very least we should've hooked Ndombele and Dele, not least to change back to the usual formation and not this mongrel 532
Playing Tanganga to get his confidence kick started hasn't worked. He has been poor. Rodon is so lacking in match sharpness it's painful. Sessegnon has looked OK. Gil looks so out of his depth it's farcical. Ndombele is an embarrassment to the club. Lo Celso is only slightly less embarrassing. Winks has run around a lot. Davies has been OK. Doherty has been less ****e than normal. Dele is doing what he has done sine 2019... living off what he did in 2015-18. Only Sessegnon, Winks and Davies haven't embarrassed themselves
I get the idea of telling the team to go back out there and sort out their own mess - but it's a bit difficult to do so when Dele's not a striker, and frankly justifying Bergwijn being spoken of as Kane's understudy ahead of him, and changing the system to a wonky formation doesn't help
This is exactly why I wanted us to take the ECL seriously. Was realistically our best shot of a trophy.
In which case, Sonny's injury and Kane's impending injury would just have happened earlier. The squad's deficient to such a degree that one of the best coaches in the world is reduced to saying that he hasn't got a magic wand and asking the fans for patience.
Always worth these 'stars' remembering that when they are playing against lower ranked teams, the opposition players may only be one misplaced pass in a trial game worse than them.
