The Bruce out brigade would never credit when he did well they won't ever find it in them.

They found it in them to criticise and bully him when it went bad though

Did fans say Bruce would get us relegated season 1 and season 2 if not sacked? Can't remember anyone saying he would relegate us season 1, Season 2 I will agree a few were worried.

Did he get replaced? Eventually yes, 2nd season Jones was in charge

Did we get relegated? Nope, he kept us up, however the only way we were kept up season 2 was a freakish and now miraculous run of scoring form from Willock and the tactical genius of Greame Jones.

Yes I’ve hired many and your quite right they take time to settle in.

Havinh said that usually the fundamentals of why I have hired them in the first place I expect them to bring that to the table and thankfully so far I’ve never had to sack anyone. More good look from my perspective than good hiring skills.

The key thing for me mate is allowing them to do their jobs and allowing them to make mistakes.

And it’s all releative too. They (new owners) started off very well. Sat and identified the issues and communicated to the fans. Then they did this to much. First mistake. The initial communication was good but then daily or weekly after every defeat on Twitter was not required. Strikes as being naive!

Back to the issues they highlighted. They have done the first part but then didn’t start to address the problems. Now I know there are complications and notice periods and things but they can be negotiated. A DoF and operations director and scouts in preparation for the Jan window where an absolute must for me. So why no hire?

I tell thee why: it’s control. They don’t want to relinquish control yet and that may be PIF I don’t know. You have to wonder why the chairman of PIF who have significantly vast and large assets than us made the effort to come and witness things himself yesterday with his body guards.

Also when employed you let them have control of what they are employed to do and more importantly allow them to do their jobs.

 

This thread is going to get quite difficult to navigate if you are going to screenshot every Newcastle fan to prove what percentage did what you said

Tbh it's been enlightening to get a small taste of what Steve bruce faced here.

 

This is why I wanted more than a one word answer.

Yes all of the above is a possibility. So is them having identified who they want as DOF and knowing they cannot have him until Summer. No basis for saying that - just as example. Or it could be that they have nobody lined up yet but want to make the right decision so they are taking their time rather than putting the wrong person in position. I am sure you have had experiences of having to readvertise a vacancy because non of the candidates were the right fit for the role?

In the meantime they have appointed advisors to help them with this window (among other things) as they recognise they have no football experience themselves.

So have they taken too long? It depends on which scenario applies and none of us know which it is.

 

On your first point. Taking more time to make a decision does not guarantee you will make the right one. It might. It could also cloud your judgement. Usually first impressions are the best ones.

Your second point. Why not hire the right people to do the right jobs. That’s similar to playing the wrong players in the wrong positions. People specialise for a reason and are handsomely paid for it. Why this would the richest entity on the plant do this on the cheap and not tap into all the help and experience they can get. That’s a tire kicker attitude or a rich kid with to much money.

As for the third one that was more to see if @Darren Peacock's Ponytail posted. I don’t think he’s a twat. I don’t know the lad. But he looks like one.

 

I was more to the point backing you up in that you can’t give one work answers really without giving context.

And that’s why even though we all have different opinions that we should try and be civilised and not be nasty or abusive towards anyone. (That’s not aimed at you mate it’s in general) we have to be careful how passionate we get and I’m as guilty as anyone of over reacting. I do often apologise if I feel I over step the mark.

I just want us to get better: I want to watch good players and good football. But ultimately I want is to progress. And I’m not liking the time it’s taking. That’s all!

 

First point I would say we're both kind of in agreement, I see your points and I agree with your thoughts too.

Second Point, they hired a transfer specialist for this window, in addition to retaining the scouting network and expanding it and have Howe and Nickson's input too.

Third Point - We're in agreement.

 

We all get passionate, especially after a poor performance or result. Like you say though, it's important we don't overstep from heated to abusive. That line is in a different place for different people, but in general I think we do ok on here. I've certainly never seen you overstep that mark.

 

Yes I appreciate that. Ok my world which is business orientated I have to react and sometimes get the best of what is out there at that time. Not always getting the best candidate but…..

It means I have one (a person in situ) which is still much better than none at all. I would much rather a hard working average specialist doing work for me than me trying to fudge it and ultimately getting it wrong.

Because I would get it wrong because I’m not a specialist in that area.

Who knows what strings or constraints are in place.

Maybe AS and MG have to run everything past PIF.

Which moving forward for any structure of management team will pose problems. They need to get on and do their jobs.

Second point - yes they did however it felt like a reactive decision out of panic than anything else. But I accept they did hire the transfer chap. As for specialist I remain to be impressed.

The scouting network needed a massive overhaul and I don’t recall any new members of the team.

Howes judgement on players I can’t comment on but if his team selections are anything to go by then take him out of the room and back to the training ground.

You have nailed it completely here mate. replying to a post on a forum, some times people have time to add context and their thought processes behind it and sometimes they don't. I enjoy some good hearted debated and try to take in opposite opinions to my own and occasionally have slowly changed my own thoughts on a matter due to it.

However there was a wwe wrestler back in the day called Rowdy Roddy Piper - His catch phrase "Just when they think they have the answers, I change the questions" - and this title, avi and catch phrase should be awarded to Roy.
