It was reported just around Christmas that he has a new calf injury. He seems a brittle one unfortunately.
Was odd that Lyanco didn't get any game time against Swansea, as I thought he was considered a starter for cup games. Worrying on top of the rumours that he is unsettled. Hopefully I'm completely wrong and he'll be playing on Tuesday. In fact, since we have no recognised RB and Perraud looked rusty as f*ck against the Swans, it might be better to go with three CBs and play wingbacks. Less pressure on JWP and Perraud to do the defensive bit.
I'd like to see Jack at RB given the choice out of the two. It will help nullify the threat of Toney at the back post
I'd definitely go JWP right bck and Diallo in the middle. JWP has always played very well there (just ask Zaha) and Diallo deserves some game time.
The fact that JWP has been suspended this season and Diallo came in and we did well might persuade Ralph that we won't miss JWP in the middle as much as we have done previously.
Would much prefer JWP at RB rather than one of our CBs. He seems surprisingly solid defensively and has the engine and ability to contribute going forwards too which is so important these days.
Plus his delivery from out wide is top notch, as witnessed by his superb cross to Shane for the winner.
Matching Brentford‘s system seems logical anyway, but the current circumstances would make it even more likely. But playing wingbacks gives us more options than JWP on the right, as long as they can both defend and cross. A completely left-field (sorry) idea would be Adam A as RWB. He played LB against Spuds for quite a while IIRC, and did OK.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Theo or Redmond as a RWB if we go that route. I don’t think we should. I am just saying it wouldn’t shock me
We don't really have to play this game. Just find some false positives like Liverpool did and job done.
Shane conjured that goal out of his own footballing genius....JWP's mis-hit cross was purely incidental!
I've just found the secret of eternal youth, and I've just won £10,000,000 in the lottery. There's two false positives for you...
