I was actually there pitchside in the East Paddock, standing a few feet away with my eldest (a Chelsea Fan), when Joey handed over his shirt to one of the paraplegic supporters at the end of the game. Really great gesture, made the fans dream come true... Stan
Have to say that was a very good display whatever has changed is fir the good ... He played very well and of course I hope he continues to and I will be wrong ( not the first time ) Another 20 games like that and I will eat my pants
My dislike of Barton knows no bounds but even I have to concede yesterday was his best performance for us so far. Also tip of the wink to Anton Ferdinand, I thought he had a great game. I still think we are screaming out for another centre half to play along side AF. One Size, Gabidon or Connoly are not up to it. Plus we need a greedy goal hanger who could mop up the loose balls in the area. Even against 9 men we couldn't create chances and fired crosses across the 6 yard area with nobody on the end of them to try and score. Amazed at a win and all 3 points, I'd be chuffed to bits with one point against Spuds next week and happy to leave with our rectum intact against Citeh the week after. Seeing how they un-picked Utd was awe inspiring and at the same time chilling.
Joey played very very well yesterday and used his experience to keep hold of the ball when we needed to. Ferdinand also played very well and I hope that this perfomrance can be carried into next week. Hopefully NW will get Adel fully wound up and hopefully this will result in a goal or two for him. Have a feeling tha when he breaks his duck, he will get three in one game....
Agree with what everyone else has said so far, definately Joey's best performance for us, thought he was immense.
Cheers for that Stan, I was just curious as he looked like he was on a mission at the end of the match. Fair play to Barton, I do know he does a lot of work with people who unfortunately have disabilities.
This was definitely Joey's best game for QPR. The icing on the cake was that, whilst Chelsea players were losing their heads, he remained cool, had a quiet word with Adel over who should take the penalty and lead by example. A great captain's game.
