First of all, Windy's back on Twitter Secondly, looks like we'll be having some interesting options in the squad tomorrow
There's a lot of mutterings about the youth squad being hit hard by covid recently. That's one of the reasons for that friendly the other day, apparently. Can we bring White on to take our set-pieces, please? They're still ****ing ****.
Optimist: He's being held back as he's signing a new contract and going out on loan Pessimist: He's been told that, if he doesn't sign a contract, he won't train with the first team
First game back after having covid, allegedly. Scored twice though, so he can't be that far from fitness, surely?
Just in case people don't know, there's no replays in this or the next round. 9 on the bench and you can make 5 subs.
Sessegnon's return is good news. He was excellent against Liverpool and something tells me Conte sees him as having a higher ceiling than Reguilon. Just needs to bloody stay fit for more than 2 games at a time! I guess we'll go with something like: Gollini Sanchez Rodon Davies Doherty Winks Dele Lo Celso Sess Lucas Scarlett Although I can also see a front 3 of Lo Celso, Lucas and Gil. Telling that the name 'Ndombele' didn't even cross my mind when thinking about the team, but I suppose he could play and produce a couple of flicks and pirouettes before retiring on the 50th minute after an asthma attack.
Lo Celso and Dele need to both look levels above the opponents tomorrow. Personally I’m done with both but some fans still believe there are good players there somewhere. But if they can’t put in a 8/10 performance at home against Morecambe then surely even the most forgiving of fans will agree they’re done.
Lucas needs a rest as much as Kane & Son. It's tragic that we really have such a paucity of forwards that we cannot give him a day off against Morecambe!
In the summer, we allowed Bale, Vinicius and Lamela to leave and brought in Bryan Gil... ...very good on the wages saving front. Excellent news for profitability. I wonder what Conte would have made of all that, if we'd appointed him instead of Nuno?
If one accepts that discussions with Conte reached the point of discussing budgets and what he'd inherit by way of a squad (and his comments after he pulled out suggest strongly that this is what happened), it's extremely likely that you're right...as was Conte in telling the club that he'd rather stay home.
