They would miss him mind. He's a handy lad at this level, and likes to have a run at defenders. Enough goals too.

Don't want that twat anywhere near Drogba's boots.
I agree bring him back but a better job for him would be sweeping Keel Square everyday.
He can polish the dray horse hooves

Certainly not going to defend the bloke and I do not want him back but how would Grigg perform now for us. We play a totally different type of football. We have balls coming in from the wings, we have lovely little thru balls being played past defenders. Could Grigg score the goals we expected when he is facing goal as opposed to his back always against it and usually playing upfront on his own in a naff side?

Good valid points. But the problem was that he never really wanted to play for us. His heart was never in it.

I know people will laugh at the idea of Grigg playing for us again but he's scored half a dozen for Rotherham so they probably won't want to lose him, another knock for them. He would've most likely put away one of one missed chances yesterday. Ironically he'd be more suited to our current style than the 'McGeady/Wyke' model he left. If we could get him enthused he'd be a good option on the bench, as much as it hurts to admit that.

He'd be a cheaper option than buying someone else who may not fit in.

Sunderland are ready to recall striker Will Grigg from his loan spell at Rotherham United, Football League World can exclusively reveal.

It’s time for us to play dirty in regards to transfers. If the club recalling Grigg last minute is going to hurt our promotion rivals then do it. God knows if that was us every team in this league would do it.

I'd only have Grigg back if he had an attitude transplant.

No way he can lead the line, link up and allow the like of Pritchard to shine the way Stewart does. Grigg wants to be on the shoulder and would spoil our pattern if play and make us easy to defend against. Nope, boot duty I'm afraid William.

I agree Smug, in that Wigan team that got promoted where he scored a hat full, most of his goals were from threaded passes, why waste money when there is no need, and I bet we are still paying most of his wage.

not sure why we palmed him off to a promotion rival in the first place.

bring him back just to weaken their small squad and give us the advantage.

There has to be something in the lad that doesn't want his career to end up like this ...

... we're paying him big money so let's get something out of him ffs.

Even if it's just an equaliser off the bench in the last minute.

    This.

We are playing a style that would be more likely to get something out of him but for some reason he had no desire what so ever to play for us which is unlikely to have improved now that he knows he isn't wanted by club, management or fans.

I could always understand a player like Borini no longer given quite the same effort once the opportunity to get into Liverpool was no longer there, he clearly had this plan as a young lad going there of being at the top level and he couldn't cut it.

    This bloke though?

Fookinell i didn't realise he was on loan, thought we'd sold him

Well that could be interesting with one of theirs wanting a move too <laugh>

    Edit:

Oh aye, was thinking of Charlie Wyke. Am losing the plot ffs :D

Still, letting strikers go to promotion rivals  surely recalling grigg is a no brainer.

I can't abide Grigg but if it was a choice between him and Kimpioka to take a chance at Morecambe, to send us up, I'd be torn.

I wouldn’t, one would try to score, the other I’m not sure would make the effort to get on the end of a chance in the first place. I defended Grigg for ages but it’s glaringly obvious he’s basically finished, if he was anywhere near as good as he was for Wigan and remotely motivated he’d have got a hatful for us and Rotherham. In summary he can’t be arsed and is no longer good enough.
