I don't think many (if any) have chosen to down tools, but I think subconsciously they know they aren't good enough. When you are reading about this player and that player coming in and bids being made and you think to yourself 'that's my position' it is bound to have an effect. The good ones will worker harder and try and prove they deserve a chance in the new squad. Most of ours are well below that level though.

Of course not, but that's what happens because they're human beings. People on twitter @ ing owners saying get rid of them etc it's self harming boy they don't have the brains to not do it. It should have dawned on them that we need the current players to feel valued. They can't buy a new team in 4 weeks
