    Look at his response to this very valid point;

    Exactly.

They want us to believe that the postponement of those games had nothing to do with the transfer window opening days later. Okay cool, so why are they getting upset now that we suggest they shouldn't be playing any new signings? <laugh>

It's all a bit sad really, because I genuinely used to think Newcastle fans were some of the 'good guys' in football. This new money though has really gotten them showing their true colors.

I thought Ralph said that he would expect the same rule to apply to us, if we buy new players, so we’re not trying to gain an advantage.
The biggest issue has always been the lack of transparency which was most clearly shown when the Brentford manager said in interview that he wouldn’t disclose how many of his players had Covid and how many were ground staff or ANother, prior to our game being called off 4 days before they putout a virtual first team in the EFL Cup game.

Think most rational people understand why Newcastle (or any other club) took advantage of the Premier League’s rules. But the transfer window is designed to make the buying of players fairer across the board. It’s the very reason it was established in the first place. Therefore a club shouldn’t be able to play new signings in games originally scheduled before the window. I have no idea why people would argue against that.

People who would lose an unfair advantage would. That is why they would argue - they want an unfair advantage. It is no more or less complicated than that really

New signings or not, we will win any replay and tap the nail further into their desperate and deluded idea of premiership survival.

I've no problem with that rule in principle but think it's a bit petty to be bringing it up now just because of the Newcastle takeover. This has always been the case and there's barely been a peep about it before.

I also don't think it should be changed mid season. Barring exceptional circumstance (hello covid) I think you should start and finish a season under the same regulations.

By that logic all the games should have been played or forfeited like in previous seasons. They changed those rules mid season

This wouldn’t be due to a Newcastle takeover. It would be a response to the exceptional circumstance mid season rule change you mentioned

And this is still the real issue as far I'm concerned.

The problem is that the TV companies are king and that's (presumably) why the league don't want teams putting out 5 or 6 reserves/youth players.

I think that would depend on the teams involved.
I don’t recall too much sympathy for us putting out a bench full of academy players at Old Trafford last season amidst our injury problems.

Indeed I recall Mike Dean going out of his way to get his name in the record books as ref for the largest ever premier league victory. So no sympathy for us at all

Yeah it's definitely a bigger problem for the big clubs as they're all 90% of the TV audience care about.

I think in general though they wouldn't want it for lots of matches. One game last season isn't the same as a dozen plus matches in two weeks.

Would you look at that - close to a full strength side for Newcastle. No kids in the starting line up and only three on the bench

I am shocked I tell you. Shocked. Well…

I guess no part of me believes we are winning this rearranged one. When I would have given us 80+ % in the original

I hope I am wrong and just being incredibly pessimistic

I’m hoping that we will be sooooo up for that game we will tear them a new arsehole, with every shot we have winging it’s way into the back of their net.
Hopefully with several outrageous deflections that will have the video idiot’s head exploding.

Yeah, I don't see it that way really. We're on a decent run of form, or we have been since getting stuffed by a resurgent Arsenal. Whoever Newcastle get in during the window, it'll take time to turn them from relegation favourites into a decent mid table side (which is what we are). Nothing to fear when this gets rescheduled.

Weren’t we pretty poor against them in the away match? And ASM always tears us an absolute new one
