Did he get grief when he played for us? Before my time so I don’t remember him, but every game he covers he has nothing good to say about us.
I thought it was deffo penalty at first but now I've convinced myself he was looking for it too much . I'm still gutted Embo didn't control that ball or his shot wasn't a inch down. Stewart could have had another too and was shocked he missed. To be honest we ate creating a load of chances recently and will blow most teams away playing like that.
Win on Tuesday and all of this will be forgotten. I’m absolutely gutted, but I’d have taken a point when we were 2-1 down.
Hard to take after creating so many chances. Wycombe are a disgusting side who were helped by the officials massively today. second goal is a blatant foul and possibly offside. Third scored by a player who should’ve been sent off.
Frankly I don’t think there’s much point over analysing it tho. Both teams played well with very different styles. Good enjoyable game and a draw probably fair. If any team deserved to win it was us, but I don’t think Wycombe can be begrudged the draw? And even if they can - most of us would have taken a draw away there at the start. Well done to the club for getting the game on and being “fighting champions”. Unbeaten run continues. A draw away at Wycombe won’t be what costs us.
He was a great player for us, often dragging a very poor team along behinfd him, wholehearted commitment personified, I am really surprised by his current attitude.
I am scratching my head as well. Embo could have gone. I am a mixture of happy with the second half and disappointed with that kick in the naff. Not boring being a Sunderland fan
Aye a lot of people slag then for being dirty etc but it's down to the officials to crack down on it. They don't have the players to play the style we do, though they are a threat in the final third with direct balls, so they make the most of what they have.
Worse happened to us first half. Gooch went past the defender who caught him. He stayed on his feet. The Wycombe lad was half way duwn before any contact as well. Pair that with the foul on the keeper for their second (and offside so it could’ve been disallowed twice) and the awful tackle to try to injure Stewart by the lad who scored for them and saved a goal. Ok embleton could have too (although there was no intent in his, it was clumsy and high) that was 30 minutes after and, had the defender been sent off or his chances are it doesn’t happen and we probably win that.
yes. Have been impressed with how he has responded to this weekend. I also noticed when Evans went off he made a point of going over to check he was okay and give him a tap.
Getting beat 2-1 going into the 90th minute then equalising right at the death is a good point Scoring in 90 plus minutes to take the lead only to concede a few minutes later feels like a defeat and a kick in the balls.
