Shameful that a campaign has to be launched to get the UK government to comply with international maritime law.

Seafarers will be exempted from criminal prosecution for helping rescue people at sea, following a successful campaign by Nautilus International, with assistance from Maritime UK (@MaritimeUK) and the UK Chamber of Shipping (@ukshipping)

Interesting graphic from the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre. Appears to really highlight the value of having the Covid booster dose.

Perhaps I am missing something here. For the 70+ group I can't read if it is 10.7 or 16.7. If you assume the latter, the total percentages for all the red, blue and green groups add up (approximately, I didn't get my calculator out) to about 77%. What has happened to the other 23% ?

Good question - perhaps they left off the under 18s for some reason?

I forget the timeline, but when did vaccination begin in the UK of the 5-18 age groups?

Can't remember - but kids at my wife's school have certainly been vaccinated.

Another thought struck me - the legend on the graph shows unvaccinated, double vaccinated and boosted - perhaps the difference refers to those who have only had one vaccination?

Maybe I should have looked at the graph's Y-axis earlier - the numbers don't represent percentages, they are the number of admissions per 100,000.<doh>

Seb was vaccinated at school in November, but we’ve decided not to wait for second to be administered there, so he’s having it locally in a little less than three weeks. I’m not aware of any vaccinations at local primaries though.

What on earth do they mean by that? Do they ration each patient's time or something?

Long queue here yesterday at the pharmacy as people waited to be tested with PCR tests. They are required to show if there are new strains of the virus, so don't really understand why the UK is forsaking them in favour of LFT's. Due to the huge number of these tests the government is saying that there will have to be a priority list of who gets them. The sooner the pass sanitaire becomes the only way into various places here the better. It is thought that maybe 5% of unvaccinated people in hospital have forged passes.

That's horrible. For some reason I thought patients on such machines were in induced comas - but, if not, hearing that from a doctor is hardly going to help their quest for recovery.

"We are the most open country, with the least restrictions", says the PM. The figures today show that a rethink might be required.

5 times more 0-5 yr olds admitted in the week ending 06-1-22 than in the week ending 2-12-21. 564 in one week JUST in that age group. 90 a day.

When did babies and toddlers become the price we pay for adult freedoms?
