Trouble is that the grass roots referee would be hauled over not coals for an error like that and yet all and sundry have turned an inconvenient blind eye to this. It sticks in my craw when PGMO's make this kind of technical error. Basic law. Judgement calls fell both ways but this is strictly technical - like the beachball goal between Liverpool and Sunderland, I think it was: unforgivably poor.

I have to say, I don’t know what was wrong with the beachball one different from say, if it had a seagull (sic) or something. Is it because it was deliberate outside interference?

It was outside interference full stop. Goal disallowed, drop ball where the object was struck. Text book stuff. They changed the law so that now striking the referee with the ball results in a dropped ball, etc. The referee, ergo, is no longer part of the pitch. Used to be if it went in off my refereeing arse then the goal stands. Not anymore.

I hadn't rechecked. TBH I thought the highlights were a poor reflection: neither Dennis shot from the ko; nor Sema's scuffed effort were shown.
Might find it on Facebook or summat!

Sounds cheap - I think the market value of their current squad is estimated to be over twice that.

Even we could have bought them for that and used them as a feeder club

Sadly Newcastle really ought to stay up if Trippier is the sort of quality player they are getting .

An investigation is being held into whether an English football team broke Covid rules - because their ground is in Wales.

Chester Football Club's Deva Stadium is in Flintshire, with the border between Wales and England running through the car park to the east of the stands.

Well it’s been there a while so you’d think any issues might have been picked up earlier .

I'm more surprised by the fact that their matches attract 2000+ fans.

Interesting idea from Southampton and some might agree with them.

But others could say they are only saying it because Newcastle will have lots of new players in all likelihood

I suppose we don't want this to happen and doubt it will anyway - the powers that be would rather have a big club like Newcastle staying up than us and Burnley.

Imagine the can of worms that would open - would he expect the same for fixtures postponed due to snow, ice, rain or fog?

Sounds to me like he's a worried man - does he have a horror run of fixtures coming up?

I think their only game in hand is v Newcastle so yes probably worried about what sort of team Southampton might face but as you say Palace,Burnley and Wolves could say same to us and Liverpool to Leeds etc.

Where do it end - and also any games at get called off to the later round of the cups.
