The Motorcycles Diaries - Ernesto Guevara
Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance - Robert M. Pirsig (Although set as a story of a cross-country trip on a motorcycle by a father and son, it is more a journey through 2,000 years of Western philosophy)

The Iliad and The Aeneid are still some of my favourite books to read. I probably read them once every 18 months.

Massive fan of ancient Greek and Roman literature so I have a collection with Herodotus, Xenophon, Virgil, Homer, Sophocles, Plato etc.

I’ve quite possibly read almost every book on Alexander the Great to the extent that a mate and I were in the pub using bar paraphernalia to model the Battle of Granicus and Issus and passed many hours discussing the tactics whilst it rained outside.

Oh dear. A mod has implicated their self as a law breaker.

Still I suppose there's a time and a place - and that is university.

Get a bloody job and be crushed and miserable - like me.

I watched the last episode with my wife who is now miffed that I didn't take her to certain parts of Greece as she said she didn't want to be dragged around a bunch of old ruins.

Seems she does now though :)

She restricted me to 3 old temples in 10 days that couldn't be more than an hours drive from the resort but I had to spend an entire day travelling on a coach to some place where she could swim with a dolphin.

I suppose in hindsight buying a tin of tuna and putting it in her bath to tell her it was the same thing was wrong.

This can literally only be Caesars and Apostles by Emil Bock. Can't even find anything else on the British Library website.

    no it's not that <wah>
i was told (sounded better from the person i heard it from) that Claudius Caesar was having trouble with the Jews in Jerusalem,so sent paul over to find a preacher who was a irritation to the Jews (but not a problem) and big him up so to speak and influence him to take the heat off the Romans who were struggling to hold onto power and couldn't afford to have another conflict in that area.Paul had strong links with Rome and on his return to Rome after the crucifixion of Christ was beheaded
Sounds **** but i haven't done it justice as it's been a while since i was told about it,also think it was written by a historian

Why not look up the citations from 'Rome and Jerusalem' by Martin Goodman?

Bumping this as I think it's criminal that the 'gaming thread' dominates the board. No doubt it will go down like a lead balloon as video games dominate now, but just finished reading Goodbye to Berlin and The Tin Drum. Both good reads.
