Diego Simeone: "We want him [Trippier] to stay, he is a very important player... But nowadays, when a player wants to leave, he cannot be held back" He gone.
Swapping the sun, sangria and tapas of Madrid for the dreary weather and a few bridges in Toon, not forgetting a CL/ title push for a relegation battle just for likely an extra few quid has to be one of the thickest decisions a footballer has made for some time… Tripps, man… epic fail, mate.
Pension decision...God knows what they'll be paying but I ain't sure he is who I would want in a relegation battle tbh.
It's not even the thickest on Trippier has made That would be telling his mates to put large bets on him joining Atleti while he was completing his medical there
Rough news for Danny Rose, won’t play for Watford again and is expected to leave this window. Starting to wonder if he may need to retire, hard to see him joining another Prem club seeing as Watford are practically as bad as it gets and I doubt he’d go to the Championship whilst I can’t see any decent European side looking at him. A retirement gig in the MLS I suppose could be a possibility but ain’t looking great.
I think it’s purely footballing reasons. Ranieri mentioned not so long ago Rose was lacking fitness and it’s been clear he’s struggled getting into the team, plus when he has played he’s come in for quite a bit of stick for being really poor. Think he’s basically surplus to requirements after half a season and they want him out asap. Pretty brutal.
Whilst I understand his frustration - If anyone knows about embarrassing its Jamie, - I saw him play for Gillingham and have heard him on talkshite now those things were/are embarrassing. Edit - To be fair to him he did agree to rip up his contract at The Gills and leave for free.
Maybe he should move to his hometown club of Doncaster? Seemed to do well coaching the academy players and he enjoyed it, so perhaps that's an avenue for him to explore?
