Good Morning. It's Thursday 6th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Summerville's hat-trick cancelled out in thrilling draw Crysencio Summerville scored a sensational first half hat trick against Sunderland in the Premier League Cup last night, yet tactical decisions to replace their big guns would have a disastrous effect in the second half. Leeds were cruising at the break, and being three goals to the good, Mark Jackson decided to rest the big guns (Summerville, Draheh and Greenwood) for the second half; but without them, the young Whites collapsed. The line-up included Archie Gray (15), James Debayo (16), Connor Ferguson, Joe Littlewood, Amari Miller and Cian Coleman (dubbed the next Kalvin Phillips) stepping up from the under 18's, and on the whole, they didn't disappoint. As the game progressed, the league One outfit eventually clawed their way level, with former Ethan Kachosa netting against his former club in the dying minutes. Even at 15, Archie Gray stood out for Leeds, but with three goals to his name, the night belonged to Summerville! please log in to view this image Leeds lining up Namibian International Leeds and Southampton are locked in a race to sign Namibian International Ryan Nyambe. The versatile 24yo plays for Blackburn, and with his contract expiring in the Summer, Rovers are keen cash in. He joined their academy shortly after moving to England when he was eleven, and has worked his way up the age groups. Nyambe is predominantly a right back, but can also operate as a central defender or right sided midfielder. His physical attributes would make him a worthwhile squad signing, especially when you consider the injury problems Leeds have had this season. With his contract running out, a fee of 3m would be sufficient. please log in to view this image Leeds journalist pours cold water on transfer speculation Leeds journalist Beren Cross has poured cold water on speculation linking Leeds to big money moves for Blackburn forward Ben Brereton Díaz and Marseille Midfielder Boubacar Kamara. Both players have been strongly linked to Elland Road, but according to Cross, neither are realisti targets:- "I don't know what conversations Blackburn have had with Leeds, but I would be very surprised if Brereton was available to anyone without a massive amount of money this month. In my opinion, I don't think it's a move which would suit Leeds. They have more than enough strikers and is he going to represent good value at this point? Blackburn are having their best season in more than 20 years (I assume) and are on the cusp of the top flight." "Blackburn have the option to extend his expiring contract into 2023 too, so there's no real leverage for buyers on that front either. Our sister site, LancsLive, have reported it will take more than £20m to take him off Blackburn's hands. I just don't think that's the right play by Leeds in this window. Kamara's been knocking around the rumour mills for a few weeks now, but he's not a target I've heard firm noises on from Elland Road as yet." please log in to view this image
Gday everyone... Been giving the u23s some thought and realised it's not worth bothering. Three pulled off at half time to leave enough in the tank for subs bench at west ham. If they go down then what does it matter anyway. Some will be kept and some sold. Others will be let go and move on. Summerville got three but looks a lightweight in first team appearances. Greenwood never gets a look in so maybe he is a seller. Drameh looked like a nervous kid when he played prem football. Rads will see them as money makers to sell on. Also just because the 3 only played 45 mins does not mean auto for the bench next game.
