That's exactly why i'm not going Ric because of the crowds. I've already missed a Nephews wedding for the same reason. Anyway looking at the seating map my seat has been taken.

Both clubs have had outbreaks and are out the other side though? Has there been any news of new cases at City or Everton?

This is the first I'm hearing of any postponement, which, if it did happen, would result in a refund of tickets anyway surely?

I knew there were some on here in that position and that's fair enough.Hopefully this horrible pandemic will disappear soon and we can all go about living our lives again.

I have to admit that it being on T.V persuaded me not to make the 520 mile round trip, plus the fact that the railway network is currently in an absolute shambles due to covid related illness among staff.

There probably isn't a realistic threat of postponement...BUT.

We are living more or less on a day to day basis in the U.K at the moment Sydney Tiger and positive cases are huge. The government can shut the Country down at a days notice, that would and could include mass gatherings??

No Football up my way,500 maximum crowds, behind closed door race meetings, railway network in tatters...

Surely the 10am ‘We are pleased to announce…’ was a teaser for the 11am ‘We are delighted to announce…’

Of course mate, it's the same here. But if you bought a ticket to a game that then got postponed I have no doubt you could get your money back if that was your biggest worry.

Yes,it's as simple as that if you live in Hull or the surrounding area.

There are a fair few on here that travel from afar and as such have to book trains, hotels etc. These additional costs aren't refundable if a game is off.

Fair enough, I assume those people haven't gone to any games for two years then?

I'm not trying to be smart about it, but it seems a bit of a stretch to blame uncertainty about the fixture when there's been not even a murmur of doubt about the fixture going ahead. If there were mounting cases in either or both camps then fair enough, but as far as it seems, neither club has any cases.

Well none of us went to any last year, our Country was locked down.

There is huge uncertainty about everything over here at present.I started going back at the start of the season and we've since had a new variant(Omicron) infecting up to 200,000 people a day.

I don't place any murmur of doubt about this fixture specifically but Football is going through a period of constant cancellation at the moment.Blackburn got 2 hours notice that our game was off and our own fans lost train bookings with the Sheff Utd game falling foul of Covid...There was one Championship fixture on New Years Day FFS!!!

You clearly underestimate the extent of measures that can be dropped upon residents of the U.K at any moment by government and of course Footballing Authorities.

I was always going to go whether it was this Saturday or rearranged. I was just far from in a rush after being in pub on Boxing Day before I heard it was off, having tickets sorted for a large group of us going to Sheff Utd and then plans to go to Blackpool cancelled as people dropped out after not knowing if it was going ahead or not too close to the game. We were lucky our game didn’t get called off on the way to Nottingham looking back. That’s without all the other events I’ve got tickets for being cancelled/postponed. I wouldn’t say it was anything like certain the Everton game would go ahead as scheduled a fortnight or so ago.

I don't at all but again this is the first I've heard anyone even mention that skepticism about the game being played is a reason for slow ticket sales. It just seems a bit of a cop out excuse.

I'm saying that as someone living in a country - in a state in fact - currently having its highest rate of cases since the pandemic began, who spent the week of Christmas in isolation because of cases at a wedding I went to the week before.

I know full well the impact that lockdowns/cases/cancellations can have, I just hadn't heard anyone mention it before today and as a result just find it a bit of a surprising reason.

I think the biggest reason that tickets sale are slow is the fact it is being shown live on the BBC. The threat of covid and having to produce a covid passport will obviously deter some but that should have been offset by others wanting to come because of the occasion, the fact we are playing a Premier League club, and the reduced prices. It would also be nice if others thought they should make the effort to show the incoming new owners how strong our support is. Sadly it looks like being just the opposite.
