We have emotional fans who allow sentiment to cloud judgement. I’ve said it many a time. Kane’s the bad guy because of the summer so everything that goes wrong is his fault in many’s eyes.
2-0 HT. One of the worst halves of football I've ever seen from us. Appalling. Needs to hook one of the forwards at the break or maybe even a defender. Pathetic offering and I can't really see it getting any better, unfortunately.
Second best in every way in that first half. There are times when a team plays well, makes an individual error or two, and puts itself into difficult positions. This ain’t one of them. As for fixing it, apart from a rocket up the arse, we need another body in midfield. Either take off one of the forwards and go 352 or take off Doherty and use 433-4231. I suspect the former as we looked very competitive against Liverpool in that formation. Intensity needs to rise massively though no matter what we do.
Saddest thing is we probably have to get a forward off for a midfielder to try and take charge of the middle. Hojbjerg and Skipp massively overrun so far and are doing nothing when they do get the ball too. Shambles all around though and Tanganga’s personified it.
Some may still harbouring those thoughts. I'm not. Just looking at a senior professional mincing around when it needs his influence to change the course of this game.
But the thing is if you’re honestly watching this game and Kane is someone you’re singling out then it’s clearly an emotional thing. Because neither, he, Son or Lucas have received the ball and that’s not their fault. The defence have been a disgrace and the midfield not far behind. To single Kane out makes no sense to me whatsoever other than purely down to people still not being happy with him.
Great players deliver in big games...if he had played well in our finals (2015, 2019 and 2021) or our semi finals then I'd get it but in 3 finals he has failed to score or assist in all of them. In the 2015, 2021 league cup semi finals and the 2017 and 2018 FA Cup coming finals he played he scored in 1. Also failed to score or assist in England's two semi finals and final. I love what he did for us but tbh his performances in big games deserves scrutiny and his performances this season deserve a lot of criticism. He ain't the only one either but I am sick of needing to "understand" the players. If I was **** in my job, no one would give a toss about whether I liked my manager or whether other staff were the best they would demand that I give my best every day. Today and before Conte arrived, very few could say that. They should be embarrassed ... but they won't be.
Is it 5 subs for EFL, or 3? If it's 5 I'd switch us to a back 4 and get Winks to make it 4 in midfield, then get Bergwijn on for Son to give us some width. We're getting done far too easily in midfield, 3 centre backs dealing with 1 striker but then several midfield runners not being picked up joining. Upfront we're too narrow against a back 3. There's a lot of problems out there for us. Edit: Forgot Bergwijn is still out. Probably have to be Lo Celso then.
That second goal gets worst every time you see it. Either Tanganga doesn’t get a shout from Lloris or he doesn’t hear/ignores it. Really bad either way. Tactically we need to get the wingbacks higher and hold the ball a bit more but this game is all about the midfield, we’re completely overrun and the setup needs changing to ensure we can react to that first half.
Sorry but imho he gets a free hit cos of his past excellence. He ain't delivered in big games .... but tbh I struggle to think of many that have
